About this listen
When Aida Mitchell learns her intended groom plans to cheat on her after their marriage, she runs away on their wedding day. Finding an advertisement for a man wanting a wife, she travels to Great Pond Texas, only to find the man is a horrible drunk. She runs again, but not as far this time.
When Ethan Wood finds her, he convinces her to come to his uncle and aunt’s ranch. She feels welcome there, but the family is not without its problems, and she doesn’t think they treat their nephew right. She likes Ethan, but after two failed attempts at marriage, wouldn't it be best if she stayed away from any serious relationships?

Sweet, romantic listen!
I love falling into the old west, and Janice Cole Hopkins knows how to transport me! This book features Aida. Guided by her parents into an arranged marriage, she finds out just what her fiance has planned right before going to the alter. Not wanting what she was hearing, she runs and finds herself going from the east coast to Texas. She finds Ethan, who takes her home after another encounter and our adventure begins. I loved this story of the underdog. Ethan is so humble and sweet, it is impossible not to know Aida would be attracted to him. I love that she knows her roots, and though her family came into wealth, she is grounded. It's a fun, inspirational story with a bit of family drama, greed and competition. An excellent story to escape into.
EJ Lavery is wonderful! She has a soothing voice and is able to give us all the characters, easily distinguishable and perfect fits. I enjoyed her narration with the variety of characters, from Hayden to Ethan, and Aida to her mother. Different ages and personalities all easily come to her and make this listen a pleasure.

Christian Historical Romance
This was a very enjoyable audiobook! Another great narrator matched with a tender story! I loved everything described about the gentle, attentive Ethan, and the down to earth, honest Aida! I hope we read more about the family helping on his ranch, too! Their back story and future has peaked my interest!!
