Story
Not every man can handle a magitech gauntlet that speaks in floating silver text, or a handful of women with unique...needs. I’m not every man. When a bad blind date got worse - like, interdimensional lightning storm worse - I woke up to a realm of dragon women, magical kobolds, and a playful monkey girl with a painful secret. I also accidentally (totally on purpose) stole an ancient artifact in the form of a black gauntlet that bonded with my body and unlocked various new abilities. So what’s the catch? The glove wasn’t meant for me. It was meant for the fabled Hero of Silura.

100,000 years ago the object hit the lake at the deepest point, quickly sinking into its mile-deep Stygian darkness. The sheets of ice closed, time moved on and the land forgot. But over the centuries, legends grew of people vanishing, of strange, deformed animals and of an unexplained luminescence down in the lake depths. When Marcus Stenson won the lucrative contract to create a sturgeon fish farm on the site of disused paper mill on the shore of Lake Baikal, he thought he had won the lottery and refused to listen to the chilling folktales....

Summary
The number-one New York Times best-selling author of Infected delivers medieval carnage as a pre-industrial society fights extinction at the hands of a massive infestation of Xenomorphs.
Ataegina was an isolated world of medieval castles, varied cultures, and conquests, vibrant until the demons rose and spread relentless destruction. Swarms of lethal creatures with black husks, murderous claws, barbed tails, and dreaded “tooth-tongues” raged through the lowlands, killing 90 percent of the planet’s population. Terrified survivors fled to hidden mountain keeps where they eke out a meager existence. When a trio of young warriors discovers a new weapon, they see a chance to end this curse. To save humanity, the trio must fight their way to the tunnels of Black Smoke Mountain - the lair of the mythical Demon Mother.

Heres a spoiler for you,,,, absolute "S**T"
Scott Sigler, must be one of the most self congratulatory novelists l have encountered but still gave this a go , because its an "Alien" story and was hoping for some salvation post Isolation and the recent WTF? "Echo".
All Jeff hardy narrated titled were a blast and l suppose we have to be grate Sigler aint doing his own God awful narration(hence performance rating).
He once stated on Rogan, that if has the reader for ten mins/pages that's all he needs , "l've got them".. He is delusional, l know as l have even read some of his books based on "Ancestor". Five hours into this crap and the repetitive use of "we don't have a choice" motivational mantra of our leading lady .. l realised l did have a choice , but having thoughts of self harm at times, l persevered , intrigued by the promise of a twist or two . Yep give me an Indian burn any day......Thank the stars for Audible's no questions asked return policy.

The franchise shown love and respect
With Aliens:Phalanx, I thought I was going to get a light-hearted and fun adventure about Aliens squaring off against Knights in armour. I expected King Arthurian legend, mixed with the horrors of space. I guessed it would be a bit like a What If Versus Comic, Judge Dredd Versus Predator etc
I was wrong, and the book is all the better for it.
Aliens:Phalanx is dark, visceral, and mostly bleak. Its miserable and really reminds me of the desolate tone of The Emperor's Blades. It was slow to start, possibly the first third is world building, but once it gets going its bloody brilliant.
Why is this a 5 out of 5 book?. Love and care (at least in my opinion), have been taking with the Alien Franchise here. It's a fresh take on the mythos, and impressed me with its sheer guts to not only try something new with the IP, but nail its execution completely. Phalanx's second accomplishment is its characters. I quickly fell in love with all three of the main protagonists, their development and personalities were exceptional.
If you like the franchise, then you will easily enjoy this. If you are new to the series/don't care for Aliens, then you should still give this a go. Imagine it as grim dark fantasy outing, and you will enjoy it no end.

Refreshing change to the Alien Universe
I have purchased all the recent alien books excluding Echo and this is one of my favourites. The change in scene from 'space' to a medieval type setting is refreshing and adds a bit more depth to the universe. Narrator does a very good job and the story is well written. I would definately recommend this if you enjoy alien stories.

I loved it!
it's a brilliant little side story to keep the Alien universe alive and frightening. I loved the characters and inventive language used including the subtle refrences to other books. the writer should really be proud of this and I hope to hear more from them. I could really picture the surroundings and felt like I was living the story. the performance was entertaining if not good I personally loved all the voices After having listened to pretty much all the alien and AVP related Audio books on here I definitely think this is one of my favourites.

Original story largely free of Alien clichés
I absolutely loved this. It was a very interesting and original take on the Aliens series, which was largely character and plot driven rather than than rehash of alien monster clichés driven. I really wanted to know what would happen next, and I really enjoyed the main characters and how they interacted. The terrifying Aliens were the background of a fresh new story, and not simply the story in and of themselves.
In case you haven't read the description, the background for the book is basically what would happen if Aliens arrived in medieval times. Can humanity survive? How on Earth can we avoid extinction? Not going to say more. Best to enjoy it without spoilers.

!!!Aliens: Phalanx needs to be made into a live/action movie!!!
Action packed from start to finish! Twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat, asking and craving for more! Original/refreshing breath of air back into the Alien Franchise! I have never been this excited to eagerly want to return to listen, again and again from the pauses I had in this book! This story deserves more than a five star rating, the unbelievable hard work and creativity put in this Alien novel goes beyond years of story telling without question! I honestly felt like I was right there, deeply immersed like the Matrix inside the story along side with every character, every scene, living every moment of terror and excitement! FOX-As one of many, true die-hard Alien fans! I’m pleading-practically begging at this point, to make this novel into a movie!!! I wouldn’t make this kinda of praise or recommendation about a novel, if it didn’t hold it’s worth in gold! This novel for sure will receive the awards and accolades it deserves! The only thing I’m sad about, which is nothing to be sad about at all-LOL! (Me being Melodramatic) - Is the fact that the novel had to end! This review is pure and from the heart!

Good initial concept, finally forgetable
I am putting this on my audible to swap list. I genuinely liked the idea of putting a fantasy element to the Alien franchise and applied my credit to this new release while traveling. It may be that my life is currently too full to be nominally stimulated by any audiobook, but I’m quite disappointed by this story putting too many undercurrents of contemporary ideology into an attempted depiction of a past world of short resources and looming danger. Performance was good, and a few clever environmental features gave a bit of imagination but the rest is refried heinz, with sugar, vinegar and too many preservatives.
Note: I much dislike hybridisation of the main storyline unless it’s characters that intertwine nicely from book to book, but this one tries to recreate an entire cultural, historical and civilisational context during the read, and made me think of the Alien as just another screaming troll in a dragonlance or tolkien book. It detracts from the feeling of dread, and makes going to a trek something of a “sponsored by trip advisor” thing not a real survivalist journey.
Note II: I understand the search for new hero prototypes, and again using current political essentials to be correct is a thing, but do I really want that dangling in my face when it’s screamed over invasively? First an LGBT Mortal Kombat;?a similar Aliens takeover, now this. I really miss no nonsense character building with fresh and deep context but you can tell the author’s activities and everyday hangouts of the author by reading through the buildup. And where I’m coming from, it’s first world uninspired pseudo modernism drawing on utterly incomplete and fictional historical accessories trying to instill some final ideas which insult my intelligence as well as my morphology or the combination of both. Where’s the Alien in all of this? Oh, walking dead prop.
The author needs to go around the world, the authentic one, with real dynamic situations and people, places and facts, and perhaps this won’t read as an armchair general with a fetish figurine on his desk kind of rendition.
Can’t recommend unless you really need all aliens books lining up on your shelf.

Great listen!! Both thumbs up.
To the author, from a huge fan of the Aliens franchise: Well done sir, well done.
To future listeners, you won’t be disappointed. After listening, if you wonder if all of Scott Sigler’s works are this good, then I must say that they most definitely are and that you should check out some of the authors other works. I have been a fan of Scott Sigler and the Aliens franchise for years, and for myself this audiobook was a most satisfying experience.

Stars slow but goes to can't put it down
Disclosure, Scott Sigler is one of my favorite authors. No spoilers.
This is the first Aliens story I've read although I've seen all the movies. As I mentioned in the title it starts a little slow but that is because there is a lot of background necessary for the characters and their culture. Once it gets to the main story it is full speed ahead.
Scott's forte is putting real science into his stories, he has a who set of experts who read his drafts for technical plausibility.
It is a very different type of story than any of the movies. The ending is very satisfying, with no cliffhangers. I loved it.

I Just finished, loved the middle, I loved the ending, a few small issues, first 3rd has its moments of absolute slog, the narrator delivers one character is an annoying valley girl “like, fur sure” but with all that said, Sigler gets it, at least to me he does, I hated the last few Alien books, prototype and isolation but I enjoyed the majority of this. A highly recommend for Alien, Aliens fans, while not perfect, it’s very good

More Junkie juice, please.
For hard core Alien fans, Mr. Sigler does not disappoint. Definitely was worth the wait.

Best Aliens since Aliens
Masterfully done.
A lot of stories set in the aliens universe seem very derivative, with the same characters, and then with some stupid bit tacked on to reset everything so as to not mess with the established movie canon.
This is an original story, set on an original world, with original characters, and some great twists and turns.
Now that Disney owns the Aliens franchise, and there is talk about new stories, they would be crazy not to look at this one as a possible series.

Great book
Narrated well and the story was great. Something out of the ordinary with the Alien series and contains good suspense and the ending is worth it!
