About this listen

From the bestselling author of Tell Me Your Secret and The Brighton Mermaid comes the breath-taking sequel to the iconic Sunday Times best seller The Ice Cream Girls.

Verity is telling lies....

And that's why she's about to be arrested for attempted murder.

Serena has been lying for years....

And that may have driven her daughter, Verity, to do something unthinkable....

Poppy's lies have come back to haunt her....

So will her quest for the truth hurt everyone she loves?

Everyone lies.

But whose lies are going to end in tragedy?

Includes a bonus conversation with Dorothy Koomson and Maria Gbeleyi recorded in June 2020.

Great

Great storey we'll narrated. I love the use of descriptive language. only problem was I felt the ending was far too unrealistic. No need to bring Jack into the story.

Not the ending I was expecting....

Loved this book! I had thought at some point it would end that way for Verity, but lost that train of thought with everything else that was unravelling. Another great read👏🏾👏🏾

Loved it a excellent listen

A real understanding and insight by the author, twist and turns throughout. A subject matter that gets a well needed spotlight shone on it.

excellent

loved this as a massive fan of Dorothy Koomson's writing this book addressed so many real and true issues, as always, really makes you think about life, and as a follow up to the ice cream girls it did not disappoint.

The sequel I didn't know I needed

This is my first time listening to a Dorothy Koomson book, I've personally read all of the previous ones.

I won't lie, I hit a point a few hours in where I thought 'Lord, this isn't the best' but quickly realised that this was because I read at a very fast pace and was desperate to know what was going to happen next.

I can't say much without potentially spoiling the storyline but Dorothy has done it again! I ❤ Serena and Poppy.

I also salute Dorothy for that section where she touched on the struggle that young black men face everyday. It was powerful and non-polarising which is difficult in these times where many people are militantly for or against the recognition that BLM, not more, not instead of, but ALSO.

Kudos to the young lady who read the part of Verity, her voice, tones and attitude were spot on. I'll look out for her work in the future.

Great book

It's been a while since I read the ice cream girls and I can't quite remember what happened but it doesnt really matter as this book recaps without labouring on it. Another amazing book although one of the narrators was a bit annoying because she had that squelchy squishy mouth sound that a person gets when they haven't drunk enough water but if I turned the volume down on her bits it became manageable.

Buy it! Read it! :-)

I read Ice cream girls and this book back to back. I was exhausted by the tension but I wanted to go on. The subject matter is frustrating and my heart went out to Serena, Poppy and Verity!

DK is also a queen of representation! It was great to have a black family at the centre of a story in a way that we don't always get. The story line around violence against women was told well and relevant to the times we live. I loved the dynamic between Serena and Poppy, it was honest! I feel like that's how they would ha en behaved toward each other on real life.

It has just enough twists to keep you engaged.

I knocked off one star because I could hear the swallowing and breathing when Verity and Logan spoke. Verity got better toward the end but I had to try really hard to stop noticing the swallowing in those early chapters.
