About this listen
When Lori Shepherd returns from her trip to America, she is shocked to hear that Prunella "Pruneface" Hooper has been killed. This is the first murder in the village of Finch in more than a century, and everyone is in an uproar.
Before the town implodes in the wake of this scandal, Lori sets out to solve the murder. Unfortunately, nearly everyone in Finch had a reason to want Mrs. Hooper dead. With the help of the ghostly Aunt Dimity and Nicholas, the enigmatic (and charming!) self-defense instructor, Lori aligns motive, means, and opportunity to unravel this delightfully tangled and gossip-filled whodunnit.

Nice story. Horrible performance
The story is a nice cozy, but it was almost impossible to enjoy because of the horrible reading. The narator is American and her supposedly British accent are just strange. she also reads like she jus learned to read. I sped it up X2 and that took care of the stilted reading but I still had to suffer through the incredibly fake accents.

Wrong summary
Would you consider the audio edition of Aunt Dimity: Detective to be better than the print version?
Don't know, have never read the book
What was one of the most memorable moments of Aunt Dimity: Detective?
Discovering the murderer
Which character – as performed by Teri Clark Linden – was your favourite?
Lori
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
No
Any additional comments?
This is not the story outlined in the summary, however I did enjoy it. It is about a murder that was committed in Finch, and I must admit I had no idea who the killer was. If you want to find out you'll just have to listen to the story.

Great story, disappointingly narrated
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Yes in terms of the story, no in terms of the narration. This narrator's slow and halting style when attempting any othr accent than her own (presumably) American is painful to listen to. Also, while it might be understandable for the American characters to mispronounce common UK words and place-mnames, it is jarring for the (uniformly badly accented) English characters to do the same.
What did you like best about this story?
Lori's trademark jumping to wild conclusions.
How could the performance have been better?
A narrator who can pronounce English words in an unstilted flow rather than just good American and cringingly bad anything else. This narator shoud not be narrating books involding non-american characters and settings.
Could you see Aunt Dimity: Detective being made into a movie or a TV series? Who would the stars be?
Had never givien it any thought, but the English characters should be played by English actors, not Americans who THINK they can do credible English accents, and therer should be english advisors on the production.
