Summary
We are constantly bombarded with inaccurate, contradictory and sometimes misleading information - until now.
Ben Goldacre masterfully dismantles the dubious science behind some of the great drug trials, court cases, and missed opportunities of our time. He also shows us the fascinating story of how we know what we know, and gives us the tools to uncover bad science for ourselves.

A superb, witty, insightful and irreverant book.
I loved this book. So many myths are debunked by the author that it is astounding! The science parts of the book, i.e. the scientific process and principles of population statistics, I found easy to understand. The narrator's tone is, I have to admit, a peculiar one and may take some getting used to. This aside, this is a must have book if you want to listen to a forensic and ferocious disembowelment of pseudo-science and its shady practitioners. I particularly loved the section on homoeopathy with the author ripping through the nonsense with gusto. Excellent. Buy this!

Very good read
Clearly shows you the flaws of the many fake sciences out there and alternative therapies, although you wouldn't think some of them needed Debunking... Also gives you a good method of determining what is a good source of knowledge and what is a bad one

erm... its says a heading is optional
I did like this book. The content was good and I feel it's a book that most people would benefit from. My only criticism is that I feel it could have been half the length. Maybe it's written in a way because it almost expects readers to dip in and out over a long period, so it repeats points rather than have you flick back to catch up. Maybe it's written in defensively, to preempt litigation. Either way it is still good and recommended, just a bit of a slog at times.

A very important book quite poorly read
Touches on topics that affect everyone so everyone should be familiar with. It's our health and our money. The books explains very well how to look after our health without spending our money on pointless things.
Im not happy about the performance, though. The author is very critical and unapologetic about the quacks and dodgy practices he writes about. But the narrator makes it sound down right condenscending to the extent that the listener might become suspicious of how open minded to criticism the author is himself.

It's not me it's them.
A voice of reason when all around me are buying magic potions, miracle cures and spouting facts that sound like utter bollocks. Thank you Ben goldsmith. I was starting to think I was the mad one not them.

In an ideal world everyone would know this
In an ideal world everyone would know this.
Well researched, written with the lay person in mind, exposing the real motives behind what gets published in the news.
But alas most people simply believe whatever is written or stated in the news... Read this book if you want to have your eyes opened.

Love it!
This really makes you think critically - It really opened my eyes. Mr. Goldacre is a bit... hmm... thinks a lot of himself doesn't he? but I get the feling that he appretiates it when people challange him.

couldn't get on with this
I really tried with this title. I just couldn't get into it.
I think for me, the author is a little too up themselves. the writing style is a bit self indulgent and it jusy put me off
