A convincing polemic.

I found some of the positions a little extreme when she seemed to suggest that therapists are like a cabal seeking only their own career expansion; there really are children and adults who can benefit from some professional intervention, I think. But, on the whole, I thought this book was spot on and really needed to be written, so thank you for putting an articulate voice to misgivings about helicopter parents and therapeutic parenting that I have had misgivings about, as a teacher, for 30 years.

Fascinating foray into the harms of good intentions in schools

Excellent and well researched. Shrier lays out exactly what is happening with schools playing mental health experts and what the real world harms are to kids.

The best book of 2024

I am giving it five stars because I cannot give more! This book is the wake up call we all need. I suggest it to everyone who is a parent or who ever was or is in therapy. Author provides such needed perspective and a different pov on the everpresent topic of therapy. Listening to this really brought me back to earth reminding me that common sense is still the best rule of the thumb at any situation. Just brilliant!

Important work

Make more babies. Raise them good and don’t drug them. This is such an important book for years to Come.

Excellent book

As a parent and someone who works in a secondary school this book really struck a chord. So much of this books rings true in my own experience and I wish every parent or teacher or caregiver, whoever, would read it because we are emotionally handicapping our children and it has to stop. Please read it and pass it on.

interesting listen

really interesting, I suspect the truth is somewhere nearer the middle but it was useful hearing another perspective on the "mental health crisis "
