About this listen
Her past is full of bad choices. An ex-con fleeing a violent gang is exactly the kind of bad boy she should avoid.
Hiding from her troubled past, Jules Demski sequesters herself in the mountains of Eron, Colorado, the only place she’s ever felt safe. Her solitude is shattered when an injured man staggers into her family’s barn.
Burned once and still in repair, the last thing she needs is another criminal on her hands. If she can only convince her heart of this, she just might be able to resist the interloper’s charm.
Former gangster Lorenzo Macedo has cleaned up his act, but now he’s running for his life. He stumbles upon a barn just as a bullet pierces his body.
Jules appears stand-offish and cold, but the tender way she nurses Lorenzo reveals a soft-hearted, passionate woman aching for her own wounds to be healed. No woman has ever set his blood on fire like Jules, but he has nothing to offer her besides a life on the run.
Can Jules and Lorenzo find redemption in the small town, or are their lives Beyond Repair?

beautiful Christian story with a dash of suspense
Jules and Lorenzo's story was beautiful!! And while, yes, I'm talking about the sweet romance developed between those two, I'm especially referring to how the author presented the work God wanted to do in their lives, healing them from their past, and learning to accept and depend on His forgiveness and grace.
As always, it was nice getting to see past characters (like Sophia and Trevor, or Chloe and Zach) as well as some "new" ones like Jules' dad, Eli. The descriptions were gorgeous as ever, and they truly made me want to visit Eron in the fall/winter. There's also an element of suspense since Lorenzo is trying to leave his past with the gang behind, but I think the focus of the book is more on the romance.
The narrator did a great job with all the different voices, and I loved how one could distinguish them when it was an all-girls (Chloe, Sophia, and Jules) conversation, for example. As with previous books in the series, she was spot on with the accents, in this case, Lorenzo's, since he's from Brazil. I also loved her smooth tone, as well as her acting the different nuances of the characters throughout the book. The only thing that ever felt "off" was around Ch. 18 or 19 I think when a certain scene was introduced in the middle of a different, ongoing one, making the timeline for that chapter seem odd.
Overall, a beautiful Christian story with a dash of suspense, brought to life by a really talented narrator. Great continuation to the series but can also be read as a standalone. Completely recommended! ~ 5 stars

Sweet simple romance which didn’t really wow me.
This was a nice Christian romance. It didn’t capture my whole attention and make me binge listen but was gentle and nice.
