Epic....!
Frankly, this was superb! I've listened to a few in the Milton series, and they just keep getting better. Milton, unusually lackadaisical at the outset of this story, finds himself in a Filipino jail - having been accused of the murder of a past acquaintance. This time he needs help to put the record straight.
Great storyline and keeps the reader/listener engaged. I wanted to listen to this in one go, and would have if time had allowed.
Once again, great narration from David Thorpe.

You know what it's like; it can be a great story, written by a favourite author, but the narrator ruins the book. Not the case with David Thorpe. He's a great performer and - I think - adds to the enjoyment of the story. Great stuff. Only problem is, I've now listened to them all...

I was very uncomfortable with the narration.
Would you try another book written by Mark Dawson or narrated by David Thorpe?
I like Mark Dawson's John Milton books. I have all of them on Kindle. However, I did not enjoy the narration, particularly the voice given to John Milton. I gave up very quickly.
Would you be willing to try another one of David Thorpe’s performances?
Probably not, but it could be bad jusdgement on the Milton voice.
Was Blackout worth the listening time?

It seems the best is in the past
The books in the John Milton series I have found the most enjoyable are the stories where John is up against a 'new' threat. Where he is helping someone new (Sward of God & Salvation Row) get their life together. I had hoped that having old enemies after him had been left in the past after he settled things with his old employer. I had been a fan of this series but I am losing interest. While this book isn't bad, it isn't the best int he series.

John Milton never disappoints...
All my favorite characters in one book...Ziggy Penn, Alex Hicks and John Milton. The perfect trilogy of fun, mayhem and intrigue. The only thing I hate is that all the women in these books are the same, i.e. stubborn, pains in the ass. It makes you squirm when Milton meets a woman because you know she's going to mess everything up for him. Pls find Mlton a deserving, smart women who helps him get the bad guys.

The story line is unique. John Milton and Hicks' characters are further developed in a deep and unhurried way. The narrator captures your attention and plays each part without being too theatrical. Such a well-written and well-told story.

Great!
Another good read about John Milton. This time he was framed for murder and sent to prison, instead of jail to await trial, and suffered a constant beating until he managed to escape, with the help of Hicks and Ziggy and Hernandez. It was a really good book.
No romance and the F-bomb was used 10 times.
As for the narration: David Thorpe was simply awesome!

Intriguing. Edge of your seat!
Blackout starts from the perspective of the main character waking up from a blackout to find booze bottles and a dead body in his hotel room. The thing is that he is a card carrying member of AA. The other thing is that he used to be part of a specialized team that killed people or went in to get information. Did he do it?
The characters are so consistent in this book that at one point I think this women is going to wreck everything. All of the actions and complications make sense. Really enjoyed this book.
David Thorpe did an excellent job of differentiating all of the different characters to the point that I wouldn't have needed a name to know whom was speaking.

Another great John Milton adventure
By now you have probably read one or more John Milton books by Mark Dawson. This one is as good as the rest. Ziggy is back along with Hicks. This one takes place in the Philippines and Milton gets thrown in jail with no hope of escape. You'll have to read it for the rest of the story.
