About this listen
Today, stress is more prevalent. It is a day-to-day pressure that consumes our work, relationships, sleep, and happiness. On the inside, stress causes muscle tension, exacerbating respiratory problems, increasing our heart rate and blood pressure, and ultimately increasing our risk of chronic diseases like diabetes, cancer, and heart disease. Our fight or flight response is on overdrive, stress hormones rush around our body, and even our stomach notices the impact of stress.
Even worse, all this is automatic — we have no control over it! Or do we? While we may not be able to control our body’s reaction to stress, we can control how we respond to stress, even reducing the horrendous impact it has. Managing your stress is a skill that will serve you for the rest of your life. While typical stress-relieving techniques may not have served you in the past, it doesn’t mean you can’t succeed now. You are one step away from first understanding what stress is doing to your body and then making simple, small changes to your lifestyle that will develop into healthy habits so that stress doesn’t rule you. Stress isn’t going anywhere, but you can stop it from taking away the best, most enjoyable moments in your life.

I learned so much! Looking forward to less stress
This book was extremely well-researched, and I appreciated all of the professional references included throughout. Karen Davidge's ability to explain complex concepts in an easy-to-understand way is truly impressive.
One of the things I loved most about this book was how it provided so many facts about the connection between the mind and the stomach via the vagus nerve. I never knew all of the intricate details before, and I feel like I walked away from this book with a much deeper understanding of how stress and anxiety can affect the body.
But the best part of this book was the practical advice. Davidge provided so many tips for how to break the chains of stress and anxiety in our lives. I especially loved the idea of using more positive self-talk, and I plan on incorporating that into my daily routine starting today.
Lastly, I have to say that the narrator did a fantastic job producing this audiobook. Their voice was clear and easy to listen to, and they really brought the author's words to life. All in all, I would highly recommend "Bound By Stress" to anyone looking to live a happier, healthier, and more stress-free life.

Very helpfulw with practical advice
I obtained a great amount of value from listening to this book as it has given me sound strategies to cope with and relieve stress and anxiety in my life. The chapter intrigued and educated me about the nervous system, how stress and anxiety are formed, and what parts of the brain are responsible for it. I have never encountered this information before in other literature related to stress and anxiety, and I really appreciated the lesson, as it has given me a much better understanding of the subject.
I enjoyed the chapters on what practices that can be applied to deal with stress, such as mindful walking and grounding, and how the author explains their benefits. I related to this, as when I do go out for a walk, I always feel calmer during and after. I would also like to mention how good the chapter was on the foods to eat to manage stress and anxiety, as the explanations of why this helps were very educational and interesting. Overall, a great listen, and I would highly recommend it to anyone dealing with stress and anxiety.
