About this listen
The autumn equinox is drawing near, and the mystical town of Myrtlewood is plunged into a spellbinding adventure.
Rosemary's chocolate shop is thriving with the help of Papa Jack, but it isn't long before the town is under attack by mysterious swampy monsters, and the local election reveals a dark side to the normally peaceful village.
Meanwhile, despite her mother's reservations, Athena is determined to embark on a journey into the fae realm to uncover her heritage and play a role in forging a treaty between magical beings.
Join Rosemary and Athena as they navigate vampire politics, pesky pixies, complicated magical family dynamics, and feisty familiars!

I love this series BUT,
I do love this series. It’s enjoyable, the narrator is great. BUT. Athena. Every single darn time, Athena sticks her attitude everywhere. Every time you think she had a personal growth from previous books, she goes back to her stubborn “I know better than you!” Attitude. Which I do get teenagers have, a LOT of, but with Athena if really feels like no matter what happens in the books, she never improves, she never grows. It’s just the same cycle of “Athena messes up, Athena realises, book ends, new book starts and Athena messes up again.” Sometimes I can literally quote what she is about to say before she says it, but not in a “ah relatable character” way, but more ugh typical trope. I would really like to see her grow, especially so many books into the series. She’s constantly telling her mother that she keeps relapsing into her “overprotectiveness” and that she is “such a good judge of character” and yet so many mess ups are because she didn’t listen. You almost WANT bad things to happen to her so that you can go “Ha! See! You never learn!” - which I don’t think should be the reader’s thoughts, surely? Again, I love the story itself, I love the plots, I love most of the characters because they are flawed, real and understandable. I’m not much older than Athena either, but it just feels like she’s such an annoying character. I’m not sure if that’s intended, but it’s just so frustrating and puts me off the story truthfully. The amount of times I was so close to DNF the series because of her.- But stuck with it because the themes, the general overall story, the other characters and the world is just so good. Just Athena is not. I really hope in the next book, she improves a lot more than how she is right now.

Love these stories but so struggling with the narration
First of the series I have brought as an audible version. Why on earth does Rosemary have to growl so much?!!! Voices for other characters are okay, but it’s Rosemary’s that is making this so hard to listen to. I think I’ll have to go back to the books for the rest of this series.
