About this listen

One cold spring morning in County Cork, two fishermen find a bundle of rags floating in the Blackwater River. It is the mutilated corpse of a retired music teacher. His hands and feet are bound, and his neck bears the mark of a garrotting wire. The Garda want to wrap this case up before the press get hold of it. But when a second man is found murdered, the body bearing all the same marks as the first, it looks like the hallmark of a serial killer....

Really good read.

Enjoyed this book. Haven't read a Graham Masterton book for years. His writing has greatly improved. Although I think it was helped by the exceptional reader. I shall look out for more books narrated by her in the future. Sometimes a good narrator can make a mediocor book much better!!

Worth a listen

Having listened to 'White Bones' (the first book in this series), and having agreed with the positive And negative comments, I wanted to listen to 'Broken Angels', so that I can give a more informed review.
I agree that the violence is very graphic, and unpleasant to listen to. However, it would not put me off listening to, or reading books by this author. The violence, albeit pretty relentless when it happens, does not take over.
Graham Masterton has a very descriptive, engaging style of writing, that makes you want to keep turning the pages. It wouldn't ,
therefore make sense, if integral parts of the story were made easier to stomach.
A big part of listening, is obviously the narration. Bad narration has made me give up in the past, and return to reading a book, instead of listening. However, I think this narrator does a grand job!
I also really like the main character, and I love her relationship with her father. It will be interesting to see where the author takes her in Book 3! Give it a listen and find out what I mean 🙂
Enjoy!

Gorey gripping storyline

I enjoyed the narrative by Caroline Lennon and felt it added to the enjoyment of the book. The main Character of Katie plus the other characters held my interest. I thought the storyline was very well thought through and the plot developed well throughout the book. It is quite gorey in parts so the reader would want to have a 'strong stomach' for that! I felt the character of Katie while being effective in her role as Garda Superintendent was quiet dull in her personal life and did not have much depth to her character. The character of John her love interest was a real wet blanket. I have read all the books in the series now and am waiting for the fourth book 'Taken for Dead' to come out in audiobook and I will purchase it. I would highly recommend this series.
