Summary

The Thames is London's most important yet neglected artery. When a young woman is found chained to a post in the tide, no one can understand how she came to be drowned there. That's only part of the problem. Bryant's deteriorating condition prevents him from handling the case. To make matters worse, May makes a fatal error of judgment that knocks him out of action.

In an adventure that's as twisting as the river, will there be anything left of the Peculiar Crimes Unit when it's over?

Bryant and May are back!

The Bryant and May novels are very easy listening (although Tim Goodman's pronunciation of some words is a little bit strange sometimes) abd this is no exception.. This time, the pair are having to work apart for the first timebut we all know that won't last for long and even Raymond Land steps up to support the PCU when they most need it. An enjoyable romp with some great characters. I'll keep listening...

Another hit!

More London-based capers with my favourite pair of detectives. Christopher Fowler keeps coming up with the goods and long may it continue.
Tim Goodman, the narrator, really does bring the characters to life to the point where they feel like old friends. Outside the characters’ voices, however, he seems to have some bizarre ideas about pronunciation. It doesn’t detract though from a highly enjoyable yarn.

Narration at its best

I think this narrator is first class. A good narrator makes an excellent story come alive. Sadly there are some bad ones who make you stop listening but happily this isn't one of them.
A cracking story from Mr Fowler that makes you wish he could write faster so I don't have to wait for the next Bryant & May.

Maintaining a consistently high standard.

This is the thirteenth outing for Chris Fowler's octogenarian detectives. With other authors the plots and characters would be running dry by now, but Mr. Fowler goes from strength to strength. The detective are developing as characters and keeping abreast of their escapades is like keeping up with a member of your family. The rest of the PCU staff are like fond friends. I originally came into the series at book 6. Before I had reached half way I had to stop, buy all those before it and start from scratch. Now I buy every book as soon as it comes out and am never disappointed. I really cannot recommend these books enough, try them, you'll be hooked as well.

Good to have them back

As always Bryant and May never disappoint and this book is as good as the previous. Christopher Fowler weaves a magnificent tale taking in lots of London trivia alongside a good old detective yarn. It's great to have the duo back along with the rest of the PCU and a good if somewhat strange resolution to Mr Bryant's mental capacity. I don't want to give too much away but it is very neatly done. The murders are gruesome and unusual as always, but the denouement is worth the wait. Go on enjoy yourself and listen to the great Tim Goodman read he will forever be Bryant and May long may they continue.

Love, Love, Love this series

If you could sum up Bryant & May - Strange Tide in three words, what would they be?

Mesmeric, amusing, engrossing

Have you listened to any of Tim Goodman’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Ive listened to all of the books in the B&M series & I've enjoyed them all the same.
Tim Goodman really is fabulous. Having listened to many other audio books it makes you appreciate just what a difference a narrator such as he makes...just how much they add to the listening experience

Any additional comments?

I've listened to 100's of audio books over the years. The Bryant & May books rank as my number one. It's been said before but I think they would make a fantastic TV series
