About this listen
Simple strategies for a happier home and more cooperative kids. For children aged 3-13. Finally, a revolutionary programme that gives you simple steps to take the daily battles out of parenting.
These strategies resolve one of parents' biggest frustrations: getting your children to listen and do what you ask, the first time you ask. When children are at their best, it is easy to get along with them and enjoy them. However, when they are defiant, argumentative or disrespectful, it is easy to get wound up, to argue back, threaten, nag or shout. If this sounds like the situation in your home too much of the time, then Calmer, Easier, Happier Parenting is for you. When you use these strategies, not only will your children become more cooperative, but also more confident, self-reliant and considerate. Learning new skills like Preparing for Success, Descriptive Praise and the Never Ask Twice method can transform your relationship with your child in a short space of time and help bring the joy back into family life.
Full of examples and real stories from parents, this book gives you clear step-by-step guidance to achieve Calmer, Easier, Happier Parenting. These strategies work!

Great journey for C, E, H parenting
This is well done, somethings I must admit once layed out to you are totally "common" sense, when you get that oh yes, dah moment.
But there are others where you really have to jot your own challenges down and see what really would work for you.
This parenting guide:
(1) Should be first read/listened to either alone or best together with your spouse.
(2) You then should discuss together
(3) Make notes of the actions together with time-scales that are realistic (Smart)
(4) Measure around effectiveness what worked didn't worked, look at small changes rather than large wholescale ones.
I will now attempt the above. Great stepping stone for things to come as children become more challenging and parents tend to become consumed with more in a very rapidly changing environment /society.
All the best to all parents alike, we are all in the same club, hats off to each and everyone of for listening to this end to end.

What about Noël Janis-Norton’s performance did you like?
For me the pace of the book is just right, I enjoyed listening to it throughout and I highly recommend this book to any parent like me who has struggled with being too soft and allowing the children to be in charge a lot of the time making some days a real battle to get the children dressed etc

Bit long winded
I have read Noel's other book for parents with boys and wanted to get this as a refresher and also because I have a daughter too. I thought that the concepts and examples would be easier to absorb if they were told to me. Unfortunately I found Noel's voice rather annoying and she droned on and on about why this method works before getting on with how it works and all the examples. The examples are embedded within all the explanations so they were easily missed. I think the printed version might be better for such books since you can flip back and forth and go back to the relevant topics and to the examples you want.
I gave up half way through this book. Might pick it up again if I have a long journey and feel like sleeping.

persevere, it works.
I was very sceptical when I chose this book, nothing could work on my kids (six and four). They never listened until someone shouted or they had had favourite toys thrown away. This never left anyone feeling good afterwards.
After listening to the first part of the book I could understand why we were failing. I convinced my wife that we should give this a try and we are starting to see the benefits. It is very hard to wait between chapters, but after not waiting the first time, can appreciate why.
This is not an overnight cure, you have to change to get your kids to change, but it is for the better, have patience, you need it with kids anyway!

It really works!
This has some sound approaches to parenting and they certainly worked in our house. My only two criticisms are 1) there is a fair amount of repetition, and 2) the delivery is incredibly slow. Other than that - fab.

Interesting ideas, nice reading.
I enjoyed listening to this audiobook. It's nice to hear it read by the author; I think that adds something, and noelle has a very calming reading voice.
I would say that the book has plenty going for it. It prevents some interesting ideas. I certainly think the descriptive praise is worth doing. It's worth remembering, though, that parenting is not one-size-fits-all. I don't like the idea of 'rules' since we all know that if we are told we must not do something, then that's the first thing we want to do.
All in all, it's worth reading/listening to, but remember to personalise the approach for your own precious ones.

Great parenting book
I found the strategies really helpful. It has allowed me to communicate with my son more effectively. It also made me realise that a lot of the problems we've had at home are universal to all parents. Have listened to this again and again referring back to relevant chapters. It is a very helpful reference guide.

Worried parent
Much more than I thought we needed but we needed it all. Just need to get my husband to listen or read the book and we can start a list and introduce 2 or 3 new rules. Screen time will be the hardest but we have lovely girls so I know they will respond well and have done so already will a bit of descriptive praise I've done so far. Need to get better at it. Many thanks for the methods I can feel confident and stick with it.
