Summary

Francesca Amaro moves back to her hometown of Cape Bay, Massachusetts, and takes over the family business, Antonia's Italian Cafe. She spends her days making delicious artisan cappuccinos - until she stumbles upon her neighbor's dead body. When the police discover Mr. Cardosi was poisoned, Francesca becomes a suspect. The victim's son, Matty, happens to be Francesca's old high school friend. Together they uncover the secrets of the locals in order to find the killer in their idyllic beach town.

Great detail for a short story!

I really enjoyed this book from start to finish. The storyline was interesting and detailed even though it was a short book. The characters were likeable and the the story kept my attention. Would definitely read the next one in the series!

Sweet and Cosy

I enjoyed this cosy mystery- the narration was lively and interesting, and the characters were relatable. The story kept my interest to the end. I’ve deducted a star because of when the murder is introduced- trying not to give spoilers here!

Dreadful, depressing and boring.

Not cosy at all. Two hours in and, apart from finding a corpse, NOTHING HAS HAPPENED. She just talks over and over about how sad she is about her mother having died, and commiserating with the son of the victim about losing a parent. Over and over.

It took, and I'm not kidding here, 1h and 45 m for them even to REALISE it was a murder.
