Summary

Paranormal women’s fiction from number one Amazon best seller J.R. Rain and New York Times best seller H.P. Mallory!

Time to walk softly and carry a big stake....

I had it all. A powerful coven. A charming Victorian mansion. A sexy car. A couture closet. Credit cards up the wazoo, and an endearing familiar. Actually, scratch that, Hellcat would never be described as "endearing". More like: the bane of my existence. So, I almost had it all.

Then a vampire came along and ruined it when he turned me into a Blood Witch.

Now, I’ve been kicked out of my coven, kicked out of the mansion, I have no credit to speak of, the Lexus is a thing of the past, and not only am I driving something from the '80s, but it’s also unapologetically yellow. And rusted.

But the biggest kicker of all? I’m still stuck with Hellcat.

Even though my luck has too much in common with a toilet, if Wanda Depraysie is anything...it’s determined. Determined to make a go of things all by myself—determined to start over.

So, I pack up the few items I can actually call my own and move to the only place that doesn’t fall under coven ownership—a little town in Oregon called Haven Hollow.

Imagine my surprise when I find out a gypsy has already taken up residence in this afterthought of a town. Well, no worries, witch magic trumps gypsy magic, and I’ll make short work of her. After all, Haven Hollow is way too small for the two of us.

No, the gypsy won’t be an issue. It’s my new landlord who’s going to be the death of me...possibly quite literally. Why? Because he’s none other than the vampire who turned me into a Blood Witch in the first place, thereby ruining my life.

Lorcan Rowe is the most infuriatingly smug, irritatingly determined, and offensively nosy person I’ve ever met, and if my magic were functioning correctly, I’d hex him into oblivion.

But, that’s just it—my magic is on the fritz. And that won’t do—especially when I need to open my enchanted clothing store, Wanda’s Witchery, yesterday.

When my fabrics go missing at the same time that my magic stops working, I can only blame one person: Lorcan.

Well, that vampire is about to learn a very valuable lesson—you don’t mess with a witch, blood or otherwise, because when the going gets tough, the tough get a really sharp stake.

Great fun!

How fascinating! This series appears to be two sub-series woven together by a common geographic location as well as shared characters. This "sub-series" features the Blood Witch, Wanda, her mad-cap feline familiar. her vampire maker and her neighbours in their wild adventures. Or perhaps misadventures is more accurate because there appears to be something wrong with Wanda's magic. But there is one thing about Haven Hollow - the residents have each other's back and the usually reticent and reserved witch may have a thing or two to learn about friendship and love.

This book is a lot of fun to listen to. I enjoyed the humour and the unusual characters. There is a bit of suspense to keep the reader on their toes as well. A fantastic start to Wanda's story and a really good continuation from the first book. I am already looking forward to the rest of the series!

This audiobook was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Wanda's Witchery Book One

Wanda's Witchery Book One.

Wanda is a witch on a mission. She was kicked out of her coven because a vampire saved her life, turning her into a Blood Witch. For witches, this is a grave mistake. Wanda decides to move to Haven Hollow and open her own charmed clothing store. However, her worst nightmare greets her at the door - her vampire, Lorcan Rowe, is her new landlord. Wanda convinces herself she can take over this town, if only she can claim sanctum. The only thing standing in her way is a gypsy, Poppy.

If you're looking for a character a bit darker that the normal paranormal story, this is the book for you!

Great standalone and continuation

I was provided with a copy of this book in return for an honest review.

Having already listened to the author's previous book set in the same town, I was looking forward to learning more about the characters I had already got to know.

I was pleasantly surprised to find the author chose to focus entirely on the new characters, a witch and her familiar, for the first part of the tale. This was definitely a hit in my opinion.

Too often people decide to focus on the development of characters already introduced, making it difficult to read as a stand-alone book. but I was thrilled to be able to say, you don't need to read the first book to understand this one.

Obviously, it can give away plot lines from the previous book, but it does mean you are not bound to read the first book in the series before reading the others.

It was great to see the other characters return and to develop some of them we didn't see much of the first time round, but I have to say I loved the characters she introduced to the town. Not always sympathetic to others, rather self absorbed but as you follow along you understand why and begin to empathise.

Definitely looking out for more by this author, I enjoyed the entire book from start to finish.
