About this listen
A weekend getaway. A charming present. Will this psychic sleuth find a suitor on the slopes?
Mitzy Moon plans to take a break from snooping and learns to ski. And after receiving a mysterious gift from her travel companion, she feels light as a feather, but her heart goes stiff as a board when she faceplants into a corpse.
Racing back to the bookshop to consult her otherworldly helpers, Mitzy is horrified to discover her meddling Ghost-ma is missing. Her spoiled feline seems to ignore her pleas, and her alchemist attorney isn’t answering either. She can’t decide if she’s lost her powers or her mind….
Can Mitzy solve a murder without her extrasensory perceptions, or will one misstep put her in the killer’s crosshairs?
Charms and Firearms is the fifth book in the hilarious paranormal cozy mystery series, Mitzy Moon Mysteries. If you like snarky heroines, supernatural intrigue, and a dash of romance, then you’ll love Trixie Silvertale’s twisty whodunits.

A charming mystery
This is the first book by this author I have read or listened to but it won't be my last. It is a fun, engaging mystery with wonderful characters and humours situations. I might have joined the series at book five but the author gives you enough background information that it is easy to follow along and you don't feel like you missed anything, other than some great books that I might just have to make a visit to. The characters are what made this book so magical and I liked the way they interacted with each other, there was of course the helpful interfering ghost, the mischievous cat and a love triangle. The magical element was interesting and I liked how it was used to solve the case and made things more complicated at the same time. Off to start from the beginning.
A silent auction to raise money for an animal shelter goes wrong when one of Mitzy rare books goes missing, not long after event. The prime suspect invites her to join him for a weekend getaway and to learn how to cross ski. As they say keep your friends close but your enemies closer she decides to join him to find out what he is up to. A gift has her thinking that she might be wrong, until she returns back to the bookshop for help after discovering a body in the snow. But she doesn't find the help she needs as she is no longer able to understand her cat and her ghost gran is missing. Can Mitzy work out what is wrong with her powers? And find out who killed the mystery man? First she will have to work out who the dead man was and why everything seems to be connected to the run down ski lodge.
I liked the narrator. She help bring the story to life by giving each character there own unique and distinct voice.

Edge-of-my-seat good!!!
Away from her new home, Mitzy goes on a cross-country skiing trip. With a guy. And not one I particularly like…
What follows is a rollercoaster of happenings, one after the other, surprise after surprise. Interesting and captivating! Paranormal powers are growing, which I loved! And Silas was impressive! This story was full of twists and turns, things that I never expected, and it kept me on the edge of my seat. Another page-turner!
The narrator is easy to listen to, and makes the story come alive. Which is exactly what a good narrator needs to do! English is not my native language, so it’s especially important to me that a narrator speaks clearly, even when things are getting suspenseful, and that was perfectly done here!
