About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

From the shadow of war comes an enduring historical mystery - and a present-day plot of destruction...

France, May 1940. As the German army blitzes Europe and Parisians flee their city, the chief curator of the Musee de l'Armee is ordered to take a mysterious piece of cargo out of the country. Arriving at the port of Le Havre, he learns his intended ship has been sunk, and his cargo's uncertain fate now rests on a decrepit steamer, sailing out under German fire.

Decades later, a diving expedition in the English Channel leads National Underwater and Marine Agency Director Dirk Pitt to a cache of uncut diamonds on a shipwreck. No sooner than they are discovered, the diamonds are stolen - and Pitt and the NUMA agency find themselves up against a murderous cabal with far more destructive plans than mere theft. Vital water treatment facilities around the globe are being targeted - placing the world's population in grave peril.

From the shadow of the Eiffel Tower to the depths of the Irish Sea to the islands of the Caribbean, only Dirk Pitt and his children, Summer and Dirk Jr., can locate the treasure that will preserve the soul of a nation...and save the world from catastrophe.

Very Clive

I nearly didn't listen to this book, as have been slightly disappointed by the treatment of Clive Cussler's characters by the likes of Michael Madsen. I'm glad I ignored that impulse, as this was a treat. Scott Brick's narration and Dirk Cussler's worrying merged fluently as I have come to know and love in Clive's original books. Very good.

Great adventure

Dirk Cussler is the only writer that manages to live up to his father’s legacy of great, easy to read/listen to, adventure novels.

This installment is a fine addition the the Dirk Pitt series of books, and, as always, capably read by Scott Brick.

I dislike being forced to submit reviews of products i have purchased. if you want my critic send cash

why the submarine?
w w is the phrase that would have been trying to make the most sense to the people of all earth. the only reason we want the first thing as the second part of our contract was to get a full breakdown of the turf on our side of the road

As ever a true Cussler masterpiece. Still amazed at the Numa collection. Now to read the next one

The "cameo mention" brought tears to my eyes.

DC has done his Father proud. As usual, I let nothing get in the way of my finishing the story in 1 sitting.

Exciting enough... but...

These are always entertaining but this new one was a bit lacking. The historical elements are really undercooked and it felt like there was a few hours missing.
