Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

How do you solve a murder... when everyone has the same motive? From global bestselling Anthony Horowitz, a brilliantly entertaining mystery in the Hawthorne and Horowitz series.

Richmond Upon Thames is one of the most desirable areas to live in London. And Riverview Close - a quiet, gated community – seems to offer its inhabitants the perfect life.

At least it does until Giles Kenworthy moves in with his wife and noisy children, his four gas-guzzling cars, his loud parties and his plans for a new swimming pool in his garden.

His neighbours all have a reason to hate him and are soon up in arms.

When Kenworthy is shot dead with a crossbow bolt through his neck, all of them come under suspicion and his murder opens the door to lies, deception and further death.

The police are baffled. Reluctantly, they call in former Detective Daniel Hawthorne. But even he is faced with a seemingly impossible puzzle.

How do you solve a murder when everyone has the same motive?

Best so far!

I loved this book, I’ve enjoyed the whole series so far but this is the best one yet! I love the parallel stories taking place and the slightly darker edge to Hawthorne. I’m just sorry I’ve listened to it so early and have to wait for the next installment! Keep them coming Anthony!

Loved all the Hawthorne books so far

Compelling story, easy listen, well read. This one is the best so far. Many modern crime fiction books have too much misery for me - not the case with Hawthorne stories. Once I start I can’t put down.

I'm addicted to Hawthorne stories and need more. This was absolutely brilliant. Great idea for a plot, executed perfectly.

loved it

I am really enjoying this series of books. I did miss hawthorn a little in this one if I'm being honest as he featured a little less, but I still loved it. I love the unusual narrative of this series. looking forward to more.

Another brilliant book in the series

Really enjoyed this book, but got through it so fast! Amazingly read as always. Definitely didn’t disappoint and loved learning a little bit more about Hawthorne!

Hawthorne

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was completely different than the other books in the series . Kept me guessing until the end . lived the reader Rory Kinnear.

Another triumph

If you listen right to the end you will hear how many more AH has planned.
Meanwhile, this is not one to go to sleep to,-it has so many clues and is extremily complex,so you mustn`t nod off to it ! Just the odd moments of confusion on my part as to who`s who and I`m not sure I have a full picture of the weird security firm who own the flats... But I have survived the intricacies of all AH`s previous adult books and knew I should just press forward in good faith as he reveals more and more. I love the mix of reality,-AH as the author -(not Tony, please!) and the `author` in the book... AH spins my head around and it is playful and delightful. I just wish I could grow to love Hawthorne soon!
As AH says at the end,- Rory Kinnear is yet again a masterful narrator. But all hale to Anthony Horowitz. Every character is complex and complete (except the enigma Hawthorne!) and there are no limits to the inventiveness of the plot.

Great listen!

I’ve waited for the next episode in the Hawthorne series and it didn’t disappoint - though a different format from the previous books. As always brilliantly written and well narrated. Kept me guessing until the end. Now waiting for the next in the series. Hope it won’t too long!

The best one yet!

This latest story doesn’t follow the format of the other titles, so I was getting a little agitated at the start wondering ‘where’s Hawthorn?’, but then came part 2.
This title is wonderfully written, and kept me fully engaged throughout.
I have enjoyed each ‘Hawthorn Investigates’ book, but this is by far the best of them all.
