About this listen

2019 Independent Audiobook Award Winner for Apocalyptica

Survival can be a lonely existence...or not. The reality of the situation always comes down to a simple decision: What kind of world do you want to build?

The survivors have come to settle in the mountains of Wyoming, fighting day in and day out to establish a home for themselves in a near-empty world. Things are good at first; scavenging is a workable, short-term solution that seems to be providing all they need.

But they know that it’s only a matter of time before the food runs out. They need to scramble to find a sustainable solution before the clock stops, and for a little handful of people up in the mountains, the odds don’t seem very favorable.

Further south, a new band of people migrates across the map, running on fumes and searching desperately for a place to settle. All around them, as resources run thin, the world grows colder and more violent.

It’s getting worse out there, always getting worse, and it’s starting to look like survival might just depend on how violent they’re willing to get....

Fantastic Excellent!

Was very eager to get this book after listening to the first and it was woth the wait. Fantastically and beutifully written. It's such a breath of fresh air reading a post appocolyse book that does not invoke zombies or aliens etc. If you like this series you should pick up 'After it happen' also narrated by R. C. BRAY who to be honnest is the reason why I got this book! Can't wait for book 3!! 10 out of 10!!

Incredible second book.

I loved Gibbs & Wang characters.
As brutal as The Road & Jack Reacher but without any of the annoying JR dumbass suspence fillers, while having moments of face splitting humour. Thank you Mr Gayou & Mr Bray, in the words of Gibbs 'Fu@@ing Outstanding' 5*

A Great Follow On...

Having enjoyed book one of the Commune story I was both hoping for and expecting more of the same. I've not been disappointed. Continuing with the same group of characters from book one - and mixing in some new ones - the story continues to unfold with the same level of believability (is that a word?)

Life is getting tougher as things are becoming more scarce. Characters develop along with their experiences in trying to survive. Situations which arise are handled with a fair degree of thoughtfullness - it is not just the gun which rules everything. That said - in a similar vein to many other stories from this genre - guns do play their part in the story with quite a lot of references to same throughout. Survival after some sort of disaster seems to be a thing amongs people with what might be described as an overly developed interest in firearms. If I was in their position however - I'd be after the same!

There is one thing in the story which irritated me - given that fuel and ammunition are in short supply - and must peopke in a given group would probably be expected to be out foraging. However I am not going to spoil things by detailing it - and it did not detract from my overall enjoyment of the story.

Once again Mr. Bray was an excellent narrator and made the whole experience a greater pleasure. I am now anticipating book three (I think it's been published - just not yet on Audible).

Post Apocalypse CHECK, R.C Bray CHECK

Another great post apocalypse story. Narrated by R.C Bray it already a winner, Only this one has no Zombies or Monsters save for the ones we become once civilisation collapses and there's no more law but what we make for ourselves. You will laugh but you may also cry.

A gripping story line continues

Would you consider the audio edition of Commune: Book Two to be better than the print version?

Not read the print version

What did you like best about this story?

The fast paced story line, with plenty of interesting characters

Have you listened to any of R.C. Bray’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Listened to many of them. R.C. Bray is my favorite narrator. His range of voices for all the individual characters is second to none.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The loss of 2 members of Gibsons group

Any additional comments?

The second book in the Commune series is a none stop and fast paced thriller from start to finish. A great sequel to the first book. Very much looking forward to book 3
