Summary

In a world reliant on technology, the bright flashes in the sky were just the beginning.

With the power gone, the UK falls into a state of panic. The ensuing anarchy is simply the warm-up act. Shaun Taylor is stranded far from home, far from a broken family he needs to make whole again, and he will do whatever it takes to get back to them. What would you do to get home? What would you do if the lights went out?

From the best-selling author of After It Happened and Toy Soldiers comes a new UK post-apocalyptic series.

A gripping listen

A taste of what life might be like without electricity made me wonder how we would survive going back to basics. Although I did experience an end of the world nightmare after listening to it one night it didn’t put me off.
I really enjoyed listening to this story, it was well written and narrated. I’m looking forward to part 2.

Loved it

Not as quick to the action as some dystopian end of the world type novels but the slow burn story is exceptionally well told. DCF Has another hit on his hands

10/10, really enjoyed it

Will keep this brief; great story, I've had it on every chance I've got. Narrated brilliantly, Kevin Kemp takes you through the chapters seamlessly. First audiobook that has had me burst out laughing unexpectedly at points, and say "oh no!" at others. Great ending too, off to listen to the next one now!

Very enjoyable and believable

Very good book, easy to listen too and very well narrated. The story is engaging and very believable, the way society breaks down so quickly has been easily shown in the last 2 years of the Covid pandemic. I particularly enjoyed the book being set in the UK and understanding the places, behaviours and details.
I’m now going on to listen to Toy Soldiers and hope it’s as engaging.

Had me hooked from the start.

This was my first audio book and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it. The scary thing is, this could actually become a reality.
