'Between the Stops is a sort of a memoir, my sort. It's about a bus trip really, because it's my view from the Number 12 bus (mostly top deck, the seat at the front on the right), a double-decker that plies its way from Dulwich, in South East London, where I was living, to where I sometimes work - at the BBC, in the heart of the capital. It's not a sensible way to write a memoir at all, probably, but it's the way things pop into your head as you travel, so it's my way'.

A New Favorite!
I discovered James Harriott's books (All Creatures Great and Small) about his days as a vet about 40 years ago. I have loved them since.
This book has surpassed them! I can relate to the events because I live in a farming community. My friend who is from El Paso, about 300 miles from La Mesa, listened to it as we drove just to hear a West Texas accent. I don't think she heard the stories at all so I sent it to her for free.
Normally, I just move on to the next book in my library when I finish. Not this one! I'm starting over as soon as I finish typing this.

good humor about real life situations
Thank you for the inside look into the life of a country vet: the good, the bad, and the surprisingly funny/real stories of someone growing into their profession and learning along the way--all those things they don't tell you in the books. A fun listen told in short anecdotes that don't each require a huge time commitment. Just what I needed!

Farmgirl loved this book!
I grew up on a farm and read James Herriot books. This was so great to listen to as it was amusing but also a slice of reality of what it's like to be a vet in a rural area. The person who read it has that Texas twang and brings the voices of people Dr. Brock meets alive. It helps transport me to another world, definitely needed during these times.
