About this listen

Badly wounded and estranged from his partner and love interest, Anna Turnipseed, Emmett Parker has come home. After 13 years of federal law enforcement assignments that took him to every Indian nation but his own, the veteran investigator for the Bureau of Indian Affairs has finally arrived in Oklahoma on convalescent leave. At once a son of the Nuhmuhnuh ("the People," as the Comanche call themselves) and a government investigator, he has ties to both sides - and is about to discover which side pulls harder.

On the reservation, Emmett finds an intricate web of familial and tribal duties - and what could become a massive class action suit. Indian plaintiffs are suing the BIA for oil well funds they never received. Drawn into the controversy, Emmett is accused of murder by an investigator of his own blood, and now, the man who used to be the law is running from it.

Best one

I thought this was really good probably the best one yet, it's sad that's the end of the series.

The narrator brings the Kirk Mitchell novel alive.

I have listened to several EQ Parker grime novels and I have enjoyed them very much. Not only are his books excellent crime novels I find the Native American legends and tribal practices educational.

Best one yet

I loved it, great plot, fascinating characters, very interesting information about native American beliefs and traditions gently interspersed the story throughout

At last

Thank god we’re back to the original narrator. More plausible. Exciting storyline and full of intrigue. Disappointed that Anna Turnipseed didn’t make an appearance. I assume this was the last book

Story not believable.

The previous 2 books I listened to were excellent. I had difficulty accepting this story as believable and therefore did not enjoy it as much. I continue to enjoy the references to Native American culture.

And long may he reign! Much more enjoyable story with the dulcet tones of the original narrator returned to us. Hooray! Bravo
