Summary

When an ex-police officer from the murder squad is found shot dead in a dank squat, Detective Anna Travis is pulled into the case he was working on—the hunt for Alexander Fitzpatrick, a drug-trafficker with a vast fortune, and one of the most wanted men in the Western world. But there have been no sightings of Fitzpatrick for over a decade.

As the body count rises, and with no sign of Fitzpatrick, the investigation takes a horrifying turn. Anna and her team learn that Fitzpatrick, wherever he is, may have access to one of the most lethal drugs in existence. With the lives of millions are at stake, can they find Fitzpatrick before it's too late?

Ok story, too long poorly narrated

Much too long and at times convoluted. Possibly better read than as an audiobook. The narrators voices also came to irritating.

too long

I liked the story, but it was too long for me. The occasional shouting by the narrator is unpleasant

Very well narrated. An interesting story with lots of twists.

I enjoy listening to the trials of Anna Travis. The story is interesting and keeps you wanting more. Mind you I like crime drama so enjoy the police interviews with suspects. The narrator reads well and uses different voices. Nice to have an English voice too that understands sarcasm and uses the right inflections. A lot of eg American narrators sound very monotone and are harder to listen to without falling asleep so I don’t bother now. This narrator has me listening to Audible again.

Excellent story but

Whilst I very much enjoyed the storyline I find the characters a little tedious and Langton particularly obnoxious.
Storytelling is spoiled by the narrator’s inability to say garage !!! It’s not garrigde it’s garAGE drove me mad !!!!!!!!!

Complex but gripping

Kristin Atherton’s highly empathetic performance, allied to Lynda La Plante’s brilliant plotting, make this a first-rate audiobook. The characterisation and narrative make for several dramatic and powerful moments, and it fair rattles along - so while it may appear a long and challenging listen, Deadly Intent becomes quickly compulsive. Greatly enjoyed this, my first LLP.
