About this listen

The miraculous story of a hugely successful New Age teacher’s conversion to Christianity

In this brilliant, utterly captivating memoir, Doreen Virtue chronicles her journey in discovering everything she believed in was a lie. She poignantly shares the price she’s paid for following Jesus.

New Age teachings are based on concepts that sound almost irresistible. But as Doreen discovered, they come with a hidden price: Your eternal destiny. Here is a riveting, personal confessional of how a former false prophet learned to trust God after nearly wasting a lifetime being independent and willful - trying to predict and control the future - and how Jesus saved her soul from deception and opened her eyes to his truth.

Deceived No More can help you learn how to discern dangerous teachings so you can detect and avoid deception. Topics include:

  • How to spot New Age teachings, and why they’re dangerous
  • Biblical ways to deal with persecution, spiritual warfare, and other post-conversion issues
  • How to witness to a New Ager

An absolute must for everyone working in new age.

Absolutely loved this book. Doreen Virtue is a wonderful brave women. I had a lot of her books and I followed all the new age rubbish. At last I'm free from the devil's work.

Ok but a bit dumbed down and slightly unbelievable

Firstly, I applaud Doreen for having the courage to change direction and to ‘walk the talk’. However, I found her story slightly unbelievable, in part because she asserts (repetitively) that she ‘didn’t know any better’ despite having been witnessed to for years? And there are some conflicting story elements within this script.

I also found the term ‘baby Christian’ to be both dumbed down and condescending. Not sure what editor thought that was a good idea.

I was hoping for something more inspired. This fell well short.

Biblical Level of Arrogance

I was always suspicious of the motives and authenticity of this woman when she was a New Age 'guru', who seemed to me then to jump on any bandwagon that would further her goals and ambitions. I believed then she was delusional and/or a con-merchant charlatan peddling snake-oil to the vulnerable.

An obvious interpretation of this book is that nothing has changed.

Not least, I am stunned that she thinks what she now believes in her 'Bible-bashing' conversion is any more likely to be true than the New Age twaddle she peddled before. Where's the PROOF that any of it is true!

At least accept with humility that you may still be wrong.
