Summary

Richard Franklin reads an original novel by Mark Gatiss, featuring the Third Doctor as played on TV by Jon Pertwee.

The aerodrome in Culverton has new owners, and they promise an era of prosperity for the idyllic village. But former Spitfire pilot Alex Whistler is suspicious, and when black-shirted troops appear on the streets, he contacts his old friend, Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart at UNIT.

The Doctor investigates - and soon uncovers a sinister plot to colonise the Earth. The Gaderene are on their way....

Richard Franklin, who played UNIT’S Captain Mike Yates in the Doctor Who TV series, reads this exciting original adventure by Mark Gatiss.

Wonderful

Transported back to the wonderful Peetwee era. Thrills, spills and mysterious goings on in a quaint English village form the perfect backdrop for an adventure with The Third Doctor, Jo and UNIT.

A smile is not always to be trusted...

An excellent tale well told. Nostalgic yet upto date this story has lots of thrills and tension; it is really well performed all adding to this atmospheric scffi children's (old and young) horror.

Classic 3rd Doctor yarn

If you could sum up Doctor Who: The Last of the Gaderene in three words, what would they be?

Gatiss Writes Who!

What other book might you compare Doctor Who: The Last of the Gaderene to, and why?

Harvest of Time, mostly because they are both classic 3rd doctor stories written from a modern perspective but faithful to classic who

Have you listened to any of Richard Franklin’s other performances? How does this one compare?

This is the first time i've heard him. I wouldn't say he was a 100% fit for the job but he evoked the character of 70's who very well

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Maybe

Any additional comments?

I recommend this and harvest of time to any 3rd Doctor fan

Best Dr Who Audio Book

I have enjoyed a number of the Dr Who story's available on audible. I tend to stick to story's that are earth based, this particular tale had real mystery, suspense and drama.
