About this listen

"She went home with someone else that night?" Hearing the disbelief from my best friend's mouth makes the events of my failed date sting that much more. I would like to make it known, I have a lot more swagger than what it seems. I don't normally ask a girl out, have her fail to recognize it's a date, and then give me a high five - as if I'm her wingman - and take off with someone else. No. Normally I'm the one taking the girl home, but with Stella, it's been one failed attempt after another and frankly, I'm done trying.

But thanks to my best friend getting married in Hawaii right before the school year starts, I'm stuck on a tropical island, watching Stella parade around in what she claims is a bathing suit. Unfortunately, that's not the worst of it - just the tip of the iceberg. Because what I think is going to be a relaxing vacation, avoiding the one girl I can't seem to make it work with, has turned into a spectacle of being recruited as Stella's doting fake fiancé so she can save face with an old "friend" from high school. Now, I'm navigating through purgatory while trying not to get turned on by the way she holds my hand or kisses my jaw. It's all fake, that's what I keep telling myself - even though it feels entirely too real.

Top listening experience

Sweet baby Jesus... Romeo is all kinds of delicious. Sweet, selfless, sexy, and a little possessive, he definitely stole my heart.

Stella - feisty, fun, a little lost, and a hot mess - there was a lot for her to discover in her journey and a mountain of growth in her character.

Sebastian and Erin did an amazing job with narration. Seriously, it's one of my all time favorite audiobooks.

The banter, the chemistry, the tension, the frustration - it was intense, it was hilarious, and it was all kinds of steamy.

It was also infuriating. The way that Stella and Brock kept dancing around each other, never quite getting there almost made me angry. But, boy the ride to the finish line was so worth it.

I loved this book, despite the frustration because it was funny, playful, hella hot, and a really enjoyable book to listen to.

Please, can I have some more?

After reading See Me After Class I was hoping that Ms. Quinn would give us more from this world. And this one far from disappointed. It was once again the friend group for me and even though I wanted to shake both Stella and Brock at times, I couldn't put this down, even as I was yelling at them to just talk. This was a delight and a pleasure to read. It made me laugh, swoon, and my heart ache just a little bit. This author once again hit a home run. I volunteered to review an early copy of this. All opinions are my own.

A Great Romantic Comedy!

Brock “Romeo” and Stella's story is fun, sexy, and sweet. This is a well written friends, to enemies, to lovers story. Brock is handsome. Stella is sassy, and independent. I loved to follow them in their journey to love. The supporting characters are great, and they have an important part in this story. This is a great Romantic Comedy. Sebastian York and Erin Mallon did a wonderful job with the narration. I enjoyed it.

Romeo and Stella!

Due to an injury Romeo’s baseball career came to a premature end and he is now working as a teacher/coach at the high school. He has had feelings for Stella for a while however his attempt to become more than friends did not end well. Since that debacle he has tried to put as much emotional distance between them as he can which will be difficult as they are both attending their friend’s destination wedding.

Stella is Romeo’s fellow teacher and she thought they were friends however he certainly isn’t acting like it. Her friend’s destination wedding takes a turn when she runs into her father and his fiancé who happens to be the girl who made her high school experience a nightmare. Before she knows it, she is telling them she is engaged and now she just needs to convince Romeo to play the part.

The only pretend part of the relationship was Stella and Romeo pretending they didn’t have feelings for each other. The narrators did a great job of bringing out all the witty banter, hot chemistry and all the feels as the depth of Romeo’s love for Stella is enough to make you swoon.

One word - Eels - hilarious

One word - eels!
Make that two - glue (ha ha)
Oh what the heck, who am I kidding. So many words. It’s Meghan Quinn for crying out loud. Funny is her middle name. Where does she come up with these hilarious storylines, she is the absolute queen of rom com.
That said, there are some really emotional moments in this story too, Brock ‘Romeo’ Romero and Stella Garcia really need to learn how to communicate, so many misunderstandings, and for two people with so much in common, and so much attraction and chemistry, you would think navigating a friendship/relationship would come more naturally. Those pesky insecurities getting in the way of true love. This friends to lovers, fake engagement rom com takes us back to Forest Heights High School where this wonderful group of friends taking a trip to Hawaii to celebrate Arlo and Greer’s nuptials. This story is an interconnecting standalone so you’ll quite possibly come across some of your other favourite characters in and amongst. Another wonderful read. I completely adored Stella, she was narrated perfectly by Erin Mallon. As much as I love Sebastian York, who did in fact do a standup job, I’m not 100% sure he was the best choice for Romeo.

Extra Credit

Earn Your Extra Credit is Romeo and Stella's friends to enemies to lovers story. There is so much to like about this book. Particularly, the humor. There were so many laugh out loud moments between the two main characters and their quirky group of friends. There were also some really sweet and heartfelt moments as well. I was emotionally all over the place. I felt so bad for Romeo but at some point I was thinking that he was bringing much of his heartache on himself. Stella really had family issues she had not emotionally dealt with and it was clear that it was affecting her ability to have a true relationship.

I listened to the audiobook version of this book and I am so glad I did. Although Erin Mallon is usually great, she absolutely knocked this one out of the park. Her comedic timing is the best in the business and it really shone through. At the same time, she delivers emotion in a way that makes me feel it myself. Sebastian York was also particularly good in this book. He is also very good at comedy and I feel like he really delivered.

So Much Laughter and So Many Emotions

I had a lot of feelings and emotions listening to this book! I wanted Brock and Stella's book once I met them in Book 1. I needed it actually, they were both obviously into each other but neither would act on it. You could tell in Arlo and Greer's story that Stella and Brock were both extremely stubborn. Now on an Hawaiian vacation together for a destination wedding for their friends and you just know the $hi7 is about to hit the fan.

I found myself angry at the characters in the book a lot, but I was never angry with the book. It's odd to think about but I loved listening to this book and it seems contradictory to say that I was angry at the characters but not the book but I guess that is the genius of Meghan Quinn. I was angry and disliked Ashley and Stella's Dad as well as her other family members through most or all of the book.
Stella is impulsive and selfish and a little unstable. Brock is obsessed and in love with Stella, and a little self sabotaging.

The problem is the two of them can't communicate to save their lives! It was maddening!! I found myself yelling at the audiobook because they both thought they were communicating but they weren't. It was like they were talking to each other in 2 different languages and then were shocked when they were misunderstood.

What was clear is that they are both passionate about each other and have a very strong friendship. This book had me laughing so hard I was crying and it also had me an emotional wreck. That is the skill of a good author!!

Keiko continued to be an amazing side character and comic relief and I hope she stick around in many more books.

Sebastian York was a perfect Brock Romero and Erin Mallon gave an amazing performance as Stella with perfect comedic timing! There were a couple moments where names were mispronounced by Mr. York, but he growled in my ear enough that I forgive him.

I completely enjoyed this audiobook, laughter and emotion, I was completely invested in every word.

I received an advance copy of the book and voluntarily give my review.

RomCom Standalone

Earn Your Extra Credit is standalone from a series of standalones, where you will find amazing characters and stories. In this case, we get Romero (Romeo) you know him from See Me After Class, and now we get Stella the Spanish teacher. I love Romeo's character, he is hot, fun, and definitely, one you want to get to know. Stella however even though she is older she is a bit immature for my liking, but that makes the story a bit different. You get to see your other favorite characters, the story is fun and entertaining. I got the audiobook narrated by Sebastian York and Erin Mallon are one of my favorite duets narrating books, and they certainly did a terrific job with this story. Even though I am used to their voices, I really like that they give all of their characters their own personality. Would totally recommend you getting the audiobook.

A hilarious tropical workplace romance

Meghan has crafted another fantastic book with Earn Your Extra Credit. If you have read See Me After Class you will know doubt have been intrigued by Stella and Brock 'Romeo' Romero's chemistry and him wanting to date her and her not taking the hint at all. I have both read and listened to this book now. The audio was great Erin Mallon did an amazing job as Stella and completely captured Keiko's quirkiness. Sebastian York as Romeo was another great casting choice although some moments I was looking forward to from reading the book first lacked intensity for me. I absolutely found myself laughing out loud in the street as I listened though.

From start to finish I could not put this book down, from funny, to heartfelt, from cold to steaming hot this couple covers about ever emotion possible and it sweeps you away in their whirlwind holiday romance.

Earn Your Extra Credit had me hot under the collar on several occasions, the chemistry between these two was insane! Not only that but Stella's ownership of her sexuality and sensuality was really empowering and I loved seeing that side to a heroine. Of course this is a Meghan Quinn book so there were countless times I sat chuckling to myself with the chaos caused in some of the scenes. Then on the flip side the grand gesture definitely gave me a lump in my throat and a lip wobble because I was 100% invested in these characters!
