About this listen
Think about that first tickle of hunger in your stomach. A moment ago, you could have been thinking about anything, but now it's thickly buttered marmite toast, a frosty scoop of ice cream straight from the tub, some creamy, cheesy scrambled eggs or a fuzzy, perfectly ripe peach.
Eating is one of life's greatest pleasures. Food nourishes our bodies, helps us celebrate our successes (from a wedding cake to a post-night-out kebab), cheers us up when we're down, introduces us to new cultures and - when we cook and eat together - connects us with the people we love.
In Eat Up, Ruby Tandoh celebrates the fun and pleasure of food, taking a look at everything from gluttons and gourmets in the movies to the symbolism of food and sex. She will arm you against the fad diets, food crazes and bad science that can make eating guilt-laden and expensive, drawing eating inspiration from influences as diverse as Roald Dahl, Nora Ephron and Gemma from TOWIE. Filled with straight-talking, sympathetic advice on everything from mental health to recipe ideas and shopping tips, this is an audiobook that clears away the fog, to help you fall back in love with food.

Nice writing but what is she really trying to say?
This is an enormously well-intentioned but the message seems confused and designed not to offend.

Brilliant in Anorexia recovery.
in a world where food is the enemy, this book is a breath of fresh air.
As somebody at the beginning of a long and arduous recovery from severe anorexia, this has helped immensely in keeping my attitude and perspective to food healthy, therefore building my motivation to eat and trust in food.
I will be re-reading this many times in future to further cement my views that food is not and never was the enemy, regardless of what Society may say. I recommend this book to anybody who has an unhealthy relationship to food.

Polemic against all of the individual bugbears
Please keep the droning on about how unjust the world is for champagne socialist parties and maybe engage with those unwashed masses you claim to care for. I am not sure when "Men" become an adjective for all of male society and of course is synonymous with cruelty intolerance etc. If you not are not a Guardian reader or fond of running in the forest naked, give it a pass. Just finished Selfie by Will Storr - literally written about this powerful cadre.
