About this listen
The author offers wisdom gleaned from many years of experience in spiritual and organizational environments. Realizing that life is complex and multifaceted, advice is divided into easily-digested segments, ranging from personal experiences to tips on navigating the modern world to mystical awareness.
This small book can accompany the listener anywhere and be available at any time. The typical listener to Ethics Without Scripture purchases the book for self-reading and self-awareness and as an important part of a search for meaning and balance in life.
Do you have questions about life?
Does your family think you question too much—or even “think” too much?
Have you ever had a discussion about ethics and religion?
Have you ever said or thought that, while you are ethical, you’re not so sure about your friends and relatives?
If so, then Ethics Without Scripture will help you in your search….
Your search for Wisdom:
Wisdom is not restricted to only “certain” people or to only “certain” religions or life philosophies. Whether theist, humanist, atheist, or agnostic, all people live by a philosophy which gives meaning to their lives.
Your search for Truth:
I hope to introduce the concept of holding opposing ideas at the same time and the ability to look dispassionately and openly at those differences—to really understand the difference and the similarity between chocolate and vanilla, between green and purple, between “in” and “out”—to see those opposites in all their terrible and beautiful aspects and know them to be the same.
Your search for Belief:
Man is defined by belief…not by any specific belief, but by the capacity to believe, by the very act of looking for something outside the realm of everyday existence. This is the quality that has propelled humankind in an ever-going, ever-growing quest…not necessarily all in the same direction and not necessarily in a steady pattern, but always with vital questions and the certainty that there were answers and that the answers were attainable.
It is the quest for answers to life’s burning questions that has guided humans on the journey from the trees to caves to skyscrapers. That same quest will also…indeed, is also…guiding humans through a spiritual evolution—an evolution that will be even greater than the transition from trees to skyscrapers.
