In 2012 after being sexually harassed on London public transport Laura Bates, a young journalist, started a project called Everyday Sexism to collect stories for a piece she was writing on the issue. Astounded by the response she received and the wide range of stories that came pouring in from all over the world, she quickly realised that the situation was far worse than she'd initially thought. Enough was enough. From being leered at and wolf-whistled on the street, to aggravation in the work place and serious sexual assault, it was clear that sexism had been normalised. Bates decided it was time for change.

Sobering
This book enraged me because of what it discussed and how far we still have left to go. It was difficult at times to stay hopeful that anything will change, but Laura Bates has done a commendable job of organising her theses and supporting them with horrifically true stories from the Everyday Sexism project. She is also a terrific narrator and did a great job.

The book I wish I hadn’t read but am glad I did
The penny dropped as I read this. I am not alone.
It isn’t just me who’s been paralysed as a random male rubbed up against me on a tube. It’s not just me who’s thought my voice was a bit squeaky and couldn’t be heard in meetings. It’s not just me who’s felt I was doing something wrong. It’s not just me who’s had the police suggest mental health care instead of an investigation. It’s not just me, fullstop.
The book opened my eyes. My quest to join others and help to put it right started here....

Fighting back tears
Wow, was really moved by this book. Had to fight back tears of sadness, anger and shock at all the stories heard throughout. I've reached that invisible age now myself, but this book made me remember all the incidents of sexism I faced throughout my life. I really hope things have improved in the years since this book was written..

disturbing book but should be read! j
I have heard it almost in one go. incredibly hard to listen from time to time (prepare tissues or punching bags- whichever works for u), but loved it and I just bought hard cop to be able to borrow it to many people to read.

Get it. It'll change your mind and life.
If you're a man, this book will blow any notions you have about understanding what women go through on a daily basis right out of the water.
If you're a woman, you might just finish the book with a better sense of unity and understanding that what happens to you is not your fault.
Either way, get this title and listen. It's transformative.

A day in the life of a woman..
I am a 52 year old female and I could 100% relate to the stories of other women. This is an excellent source for people wanting to understand the everyday stories, consider the causes and the solutions. I found the chapters focused on different topic very helpful. I recommend to everyone!
