Summary
In 2068, androids are an integrated part of human life. Big Brother no longer just watches from the shadows. It's in every household.
Lloyd Salter has OCD issues with noise and mess, and he's uncomfortable with human interaction. When his ex claimed the only thing perfect enough to live up to his standards was an android, Lloyd dismissed it. But two years later, after much self-assessment, he thinks he may have been right.
SATinc is the largest manufacturer of androids in Australia, including the Fully Compatible Units known as an A-Class 10. Their latest design is the Synthetic Human Android UNit, otherwise known as SHAUN. Shaun is compatible to Lloyd's every need; the perfect fit on an intellectual and physical basis.
But Lloyd soon realizes Shaun's not like other A-Class androids. He learns. He adapts. Sure that SATinc is aware Shaun functions outside of his programmed parameters, Lloyd must find a way to keep Shaun safe. No one can know how special Shaun is. No one can know he's evolved.

Beautiful love story
The combination of N R Walker and Joel Leslie inspired me to download this book even though the subject wasn't my usual thing. Oh my goodness I am so glad I did. This has to be my book of the year.
A concept that has no doubt been covered before - an artificially intelligent Android becoming self aware, made for a touching, heartwarming, heartbreaking, beautiful love story.
Walker just gets it right, whilst Leslie brings the whole thing to life in my head as though I'm watching a film.
If you are a N R Walker fan but are a little unsure of the subject matter just go with your heart and download it. You will not be sorry. This is an audio book I can listen to again and again.

Wow - that was great!
I often enjoy N.R. Walker books, but this one was even better. Unfortunately I listened to it all in one go because I couldn’t stop which meant I didn’t go to sleep until 3am ..work will be tough today!! Definitely recommend it!
If you liked this book give SPECTR: The Complete First Series (books 1-6) by Jordan L. Hawk a go. Not the same set up as this story, but it’s an unusual relationship and I got absorbed in that book too.

How To Love Your Android :)
Story: I'm not a sci-fi aficionado by any stretch, but I was captivated by the story. After Lloyd's ex told him that only a robot would be a perfect match, Lloyd sets out to do just that - order his perfect man. NR Walker's story is very relevant to today's world - cloning, creating artificial intelligent (AI) machines, sex bots and let's not forget Big Brother surveillance.
I loved how Shaun 'evolved' from AI to sentient being through his interactions and slow wooing of Lloyd (even if both were not aware of the slow burn romance at first). Excellent story.
Narration: I never thought I would say that Joel Leslie sounded 'robotic', but here it is. It was brilliant! His portrayal of Shaun was perfect. And as Shaun evolved, I thought he sounded more and more human in his speech, thanks to Joel's talent. Joel managed to make the owner of SAT Inc oily, smarmy without making it over the top.
Anyway, if I though the book was great, Joel's narration was genius!
Highly recommend.

A surprise well worth perseverance
Great sci-fi story. Thought provoking. Highly erotic & deeply sensual. Nervous narration truly painful and distracting at the start though the narrator's performance of other characters was extremely good. Well worth the perseverance.

Enjoyable graphic user interface
Lloyd: a socially awkward Aussie male purchases Shaun as a plus-perfect counterpart/companion. This is a strange and amusing tale, written by a skilled writer, who can craft dramas serious and not so serious. This has elements of both. Laugh out loud funny at times, but deeply sad at others. The choice of the cover picture is perfect for Shaun.
Chose the book through my enjoyment of sci-fi, but was tempted to stop after an hour with the graphic bedroom (and shower) descriptions, but the reader learns as does Shaun through the different types of interaction with Lloyd, and the metaphor of the novel Moby Dick, how to move to the next teachable moment and revelation.
This is not a typical Joel Leslie narration, the Aussie accent, and the note of trepidation in Lloyd's tone, is a way to create a sharp contrast with all-knowing Shaun. The result is masterful and enjoyable.
This is my 6th book by this author, and confirms I will seek out more.
Will not write more so as to not spoil the plot for others, so they can have their own teachable moments lol.
An enjoyable way so spend 7hrs plus. Well done Audible with this one. RECOMMENDED

A beautiful love affair
With the robotics getting far ahead of anything we know today love can develop for a lonely gay man and a sentient robot. Beautifully written as we have come to expect fron N R Walker and narrated by N R Walker's favourite narrator.

I want a Shaun!
This is not your normal MM romance, but despite being in a dystopian setting it is still a story of love and acceptance.
I couldn’t help falling in love with both Lloyd and Shaun.
NR Walker expertly takes you on a journey of emotions through the characters and although this is a Sci-Fi story set in the not too distant future, it’s not too far out of the realms of believability.
Joel Leslie is one of my top 3 narrators and I couldn’t think of anyone better to have narrated this audiobook.
He was Pluperfect! Lol

Story okay sex scenes get boring
It's ok. Main character is quite cringey and a bit drab. The story highlights are anything that isn't the sex which is clearly why people subscribe to this author. It's porn fluffed out with a vague sense of storytelling. Won't get another one in a hurry

The narrator's talent is wasted on this
A neat idea, but implementation is neither smart nor engaging. So far into the future, who in the West would still care if somebody is gay? And with technologies capable of creating androids with brains and all, I don't see how OCD would still exist. If I set this aside and focus on the characters, there isn't much to like. I usually enjoy introverted and shy characters, but all this human guy does, when he is not salivating over the android, is masturbate to his own self-pity and superiority over others. Simultaneously. I'm so different from others with my OCD and I'm so lonely, poor me, but others are also shallow idiots who don't like books and philosophy,
This book made me think of how dreadful it would be to exist as an android in this dude's house! An unintentional horror story.
