Summary
An unmissable new serial killer thriller from the author of The Mechanic Trilogy.
After surviving a vicious knife attack, which left her husband dead, DI Rosalind Kray returns to work and is handed a serial killer investigation. This killer is different; he doesn’t just want to take the lives of his victims, he wants to obliterate their very existence.
The murders appear random, but the killer selects his quarry with meticulous care. While fighting her superiors, Kray must conquer her own demons, which are tearing her apart. She has the ability to think like a killer, and her skills lead to a series of horrifying revelations that turn the case on its head. She believes she is getting close, then her world comes crashing down, with devastating consequences.
Will Kray find the murderer and escape with her own life intact?
The truth is closer than she could have ever imagined....

Great story, the narrator took a bit of getting used to.
Enjoyed the story, I did find the narrator hard going to listen to but stuck with it and got used to his style.

Gripping and visceral from ch1
The story threads it’s way through a detailed and elaborate drama following the main protagonists as they compete at opposite ends of the law. Kray is a likeable yet depressing character who hates life but loves her job as the only thing she’s good at. Her intuition is unparalleled in her team meaning she keeps a step ahead but the killer is further down the path.
Narration was really poor at the start but it either improved or grew on me I am not into rely sure. I actually liked how he portrayed the killer and rampton. Some like the female hostess in the end were too overplayed though to be believable.
To sum up I’m hooked on the storytelling after months of only reading fantasy! This is my first crime book and it won’t be my last.
On to book 2 in the series 🤗

Great story
Great story, pretty bare bones horrific stuff. The narrator grated, I got past it but his stuttery manner was irritating,

Real, gritty and gripping
What a fabulous series of books. I’ve been unable to stop listening. Really well written, realistic, gritty and gripping. Some fabulous humour adds a nice touch to this series. Would definitely recommend and the narrator is spot on.

Good story, but painful narrator.
A really good story, but the narrator is awful. So much so, I nearly gave up within 20 minutes.

Good story badly told
Narrator sounds like he is being tortured or in the middle of a poo. It was off putting.

OK story but narration not particularly enjoyable.
I think the story would be better if narrated by a different person. I ended up listening to all of it, but found myself sighing hard at the way the characters were portrayed by the narrator. Still listening to the rest in the series though, lol.

Rob Ashman does an amazing narration
Rob Ashman’s narration puts me in the mind of Jonathan Keeble, who is one of my favourite narrators. He does an amazing job with all of the characters. The book overall is pretty good.
Rosland can be her own worst enemy, but I guess that’s the point of her conflict coming back after being nearly murdered, and seeing her husband died before her eyes.
There are some good twist and turns that brings you to who the killer is, and I think it’s the first time that I’ve listen to suspense, thriller, and the killer is a cross-dresser.
Overall, a good story to lose yourself And aun a bad weather day kept my interest and I thought it was a well told story with superb narration
