Summary
By the best-selling author of All Out War, short-listed for the Orwell Prize 2017.
The unmissable account of politics covering Theresa May's time as PM through to the end of the election campaign. Stuffed to the brim with revelation and explanation of political debates and arguments and a superb follow-up to All Out War.
'May you live in interesting times' says the proverbial Chinese curse. And it is difficult to think of a recent period in which politics have been so unpredictable and fast-changing. As Political Editor of The Sunday Times, Tim Shipman has been at the forefront of it all. His book of last year, All Out War, has become the book on the 2016 referendum campaign. Shipman's writing is noted for its grasp of human drama as well as his intimate understanding of the political arguments and differences at stake.
Fall Out continues the story of British politics from the entry of Theresa May into Downing Street as Prime Minister through to the end of the general election campaign - and its aftermath. Written with his trademark wit and access to sources no-one else has, this book takes all who listen to it to the heart of the political drama that is unravelling every day before us as Britain tries to work out its new place in the world post-Brexit.

Brilliant.
This is a fantastic account of Mrs May’s time in power so far; unbiased, informative and straight forward. Shipman is a master at his craft. Fantastic, engaging narration adds to the product; highly recommended for those who have an interest in modern politics.

Brilliant, Tim Shipman gets “ In the thick of it”
I read All out war and thought it was brilliant. I listened to Fall out on audible and again thought this is brilliant. Full of detail from behind the scenes and so much humour. It is like “in the thick of it” but real.
Eagerly awaiting the third book.
Amazing how Corbyn very nearly won and May completely blew it.

Theresa May-hem
Tim Shipman's follow up to All Out War starts with Theresa May;s faltering first step as Prime Minister. A government unprepared to deal with the Brexit decision foisted on them by UK voters. The first few chapters are a little slow but the pace picks up and once the election is called it never lets up. I thought that it was fairly evenly handed in the way it deals with both Tory and Labour sides of the election without totally ignoring Ukip or Lib Dem. The contrast between Theresa May and Ruth Livingstone, the leader of the Conservatives in Scotland is stark. The Corbyn surge is also well examined.
Another great narration.

Brilliant and insightful
I couldn’t stop listening to this, the insights into the recents British political events was gripping and not a little depressing to find out how ineffectual some senior members of government are.
The shear volume of sources and first hand accounts is incredible.
This is bar far the longest book I’ve listened to but it didn’t feel like it.

just bloody brilliant
there were slight overtones of the authors bias here and there but it was spectacular to understand just how politics operates in today's world

fascinating inside track
really interesting expose of the machinations in number 10. Shipman tries to be fair but that just makes it more alarming.
