About this listen

Somewhere in the shadowy borderland between myth and history lies the territory of Finn Mac Cool. Mightiest of the Irish heroes, leader of the invincible army of Fianna, he was a man of many faces: warrior, poet, lover, creator, and destroyer. Finn Mac Cool is a man taken from one of the lowest classes of Irish society, driven by ambition and strength to rise above his birth and bring new respect and status to his people.

He had it all and lost it all, but in the end he gained immortality. Finn Mac Cool is a novel of sweeping historical grandeur and awesome adventure.

Butchered pronunciations

Story was interesting enough but impossible to listen to the narrator butcher her way through multiple miss pronunciations. Diarmuid is not “D-mat” or whatever she was trying to say. “Dear-mid” would have been an acceptable attempt.

the story

loved the story, voice of narrator was great but the pronunciation of names wasn't correct. Fianna is pronounced Fee-inn-a not Fee-awna. Caoilte is Keel-cha not Keel-ta, Cormac Mac Airt is Cormac Mac Art not Cormac Mac Air, Diarmuid (Deer-mwid) ran away with Grainne not Dermat..Bit irritating the pronunciation wasn't correct.

Lives up to the legend

Interesting yarn but not a lot of substance. Found myself determined to get it over and done with rather than immerse myself in.
