About this listen

Firefighter paramedic Mallory "Ice" James commands a crew of smokejumpers - twenty women and men who eat together, sleep together, and parachute into the face of raging forest fires together - and she has thirty days to whip the rookies into shape. Discipline and teamwork mean the difference between life and death on the line, and she's earned her reputation as cool and controlled in the face of danger.

Mallory isn't happy when "Hotshot" Jac Russo shows up unannounced for boot camp along with a reputation for being trouble. Jac is none too pleased about her cold reception, even if the new boss is drop-dead gorgeous and hotter than the blazes they're supposed to be dousing. Mallory and Jac may not like each other much, but lust isn't something either can control - and they soon discover ice burns as fiercely as flame.

Good story and performance

An interesting offshoot of the Honour series set at the time of the reelection campaign for Powell.
Again good characters and storyline set against political intrigue and romance.

traditional romance

This is a very typical romance between to woman, both with conflicts to overcome. Iiked this story a lot as it fits the telling I like. I does not include a lot of drama, other then the internal conflicts of the characters, which I like. I loved the strong personalities of the two main female characters, and the romantic resolution. Im not one for erotica persay and prefer novels where this is limited and happens as part of the story line. This one fits the bill. It does not sound like a Radclyffe work as the narrator Stella approaches it differently, with a lot of excitement, She is a good narrator but can be over the top at times, I thought I might dislike the style but in the end it was an change and I enjoyed her narrations. One of the few stories I would listen to again.

loved it

I really enjoy this author. I've read this book prior but the narrator really brought this to life.

Over dramatic

The narrator was far too dramatic, to the point of irritation.
The character names were said too often.
It seemed as though a lot of the wording didn't really fit into the storyline.
Very disappointing book. would not recommend.
