About this listen
Leslie Harris's visit to her upstate New York lakeside family home after a decade of triumphs and disappointment resembles a nightmare more than the quiet vacation she'd hoped for. The unexpected appearance of much-changed town girl, Devon Weber, with whom Leslie shares a secret that haunts them both, rekindles an old heart ache - and reminds Leslie of just why she left.
Even though her attraction to Dev comes roaring back, the one thing Leslie doesn't want is to pick up where they left off, especially not when she already has just the life she wants - a rewarding high-power law practice, a condo in Manhattan, and a lover who satisfies her without demanding the intimacy Leslie avoids. Unfortunately, environmental biologist Devon Weber doesn't play by Leslie's rules. Two women whose lives turned out far differently than they'd once imagined discover that sometimes the shape of the future can only be found in the past - and love is strongest - When Dreams Tremble.

Passionate and deeply intimate, When Dreams Tremble is a story of an old love, rekindled. Leslie Harris thinks she has her life together until she runs into an old girlhood crush, the mysterious Devon Weber. Suddenly her relaxing vacation has turned into something far more serious.… Coleen Marlo performs Radclyffe's romantic work with all of the requisite flourishes and emotion. Marlo's tone is charming and relatable, just the type of performer a romantic thriller such as this deserves!

excellent
beautiful story of lost love finding each other yrs later, there is sadness for past actions, the back story unfolds bit by bit, present partners to confuse, definitely one of radclyffes' best, and soulfully narrated by Colleen marlo,

One of the better Radclyffe novels
I saw the summary for this audio book, and honestly decided that it could easily be another cliched lesbian romance novel, full of two dimensional characters, sex, and not a lot else.
With that in mind I hit the little green sample button not really thinking it would draw me into trying out the book. One advantage of being a member of audible is the fact that you can return books if you find they aren't quite what you were expecting, and hearing the sample I decided it was worth the risk.
I was wrong about my initial assessment based on the summary. Sure there are moments when it could come under those cliches, but actually, you get three dimensional characters that you really care about. Although there are times when the whole emotional explanations do become a bit repetitive, and you wish there could be a bit more filling out of the plot, one example could be using the main characters to have a modern confrontation with the ex-boyfriend. In my opinion that was a missed opportunity to add depth to the story without detracting from the two main characters, especially as he was mentioned in such a way that had you wondering if he would make an appearance.
Added to that, the recording and narrator are marginally better than a lot of the lesbian audio books out there. The narrator does an okay job of separating out the characters, and there is little echo/reverberations that I have heard on some recordings and that frankly really helps this story along. Far too many recordings feel as though they have been rushed onto the audible catalog with little or no consideration to the quality of the engineering behind the work, even works by popular authors have fallen into this trap. So it was a pleasant surprise to find a recording that falls into the slightly more professional category, it's not perfect, but it's certainly better than some.
Too many lesbian novels have fallen into the routine of the two dimension, which is sad because with a little thought they could be so much more. While I don't think this is Radclyffes' best story, it certainly isn't the worst.

Decent story, good characters not Radclyffe's best
First off the narration was great. Character development was good and it was nice to see Lesley's relationship with her mum develop too. Overall it was just a little too slow, I got fed up waiting for them to realise they loved each other and then ending felt rushed and not particularly credible. I would listen again but recommend Fated Love, Night Call and Trauma Alert for better storylines and characters.

Plot what plot?
Weak storyline from beginning to end. You could fall asleep for an hour and not miss anything of note.
