About this listen
Fans of high-octane action and unforgettable heroes like Lee Child’s Jack Reacher, Robert Ludlum’s Jason Bourne, and David Baldacci’s Amos Decker will love First Shot.
“When girls go missing here, no one says a word”...
Twenty-four year old Lila has disappeared without trace. It’s the kind of case that ex-military loner Grant Fletcher would normally be happy to take on - he will always seek justice if someone has the money to pay him. But this one he’s doing for free. This one’s personal.
Because Fletcher owes his life to Lila’s father. And Fletcher knows that returning Lila safe and sound is the only thing that matters to his wheelchair-bound friend.
She last called her father from a small town called Daversville, in rural Georgia. A place - Fletcher discovers as he checks into the only motel - where folks are proud to keep themselves to themselves, and almost all the business comes from the giant sawmill that looms large over the town.
Before he’s even started looking for Lila, Fletcher finds trouble. But he also discovers that his friend’s daughter wasn’t the first girl to go missing there. Not the first by far.
Then the last person to have seen Lila before she disappeared is murdered. With Fletcher on the scene when her body is found, he becomes the local deputy’s only suspect, leaving him no choice but to go on the run. Because he knows someone’s abducting girls in this town. And he also knows he’s the only one who can find them...

Hunter or Hunted
Grant Fletcher is basically a bounty hunter ex-military a loner so not many friends, this time he is doing a freebie for a soldier pal that is wheelchair-bound and is missing a daughter. Lila last heard of in Daversville Georgia, a small rural community run by the Cat family. Soon as Fletcher makes inquiries there is trouble and the township tries all sorts of methods to rid themselves of Fletcher, while on these inquiries he learns Lila is not the only one to have gone missing mainly young girls but a few men as well, and it has also come to the attention of the FBI and they send in 1 agent Quadrado, and she is not impressed with Fletcher although he tries to warn her a few times, but she warns him to stay out of her way. Most of the townfolk are afraid of the Cat Family and will not speak up for fear of reprisal. Fletcher is basically a one-man band and the amount of abuse his body took nobody else would make it, but this is fiction at it's best, its fast pace gripping the story makes sense but Fletcher is super human-bear that in mind when listening. Enjoyed it immensely the narrator was good at most times but was speaking on an equal drone, not much variation in his voices that you get with some audios. It did leave it as there was going to be another Grant Fletcher, and I feel I could easily listen to another one, enjoyable.but OTT bit like the Bond 007

Exciting crime drama
An enjoyable audio from a new author for me this week. An exciting crime thriller and which starts off with girl going missing outside a dinner. What follows is a mystery when Grant Fletcher starts investigating he discovers the missing girl is the first of a number of missing girls who no one seems to have missed until now. As he risks his life along with a local detective to find out who is behind it and if any of the missing people are still alive her delves into a dark and twisted world of crime which would turn the strongest of stomachs. This is an exciting audio and a strong story.

Far fetched
Generally a good story line, but for a trained killer to many mistakes and vulnerable situations. Not up to Mark Dawson or Lee Childs.

Non-stop action
When Lila goes missing in the small town of Daversville, family friend Grant Fletcher goes to search for her. With the town being reluctant to talk to an outsider and blocking him at every turn he has to provoke them to find out the truth. An ex-marine he uses all his previous training as he tries to find out what happened to Lila. He teams up with FBI special agent Zoey Quadrado sent to investigate not just Lila's disappearance but a number of others. This was a roller coaster of a book, the action never stopped as Grant and Zoey try to find out the truth about the disappearances and who is behind them. A great first book to what looks like the start of a series.
