About this listen

An illegal immigrant is found murdered in an Edinburgh housing scheme: a racist attack or something else? Rebus is drawn into the case but has other problems: his old police station has closed, and his masters would rather he retire than stick around. As Rebus investigates, he must visit an asylum seekers' detention centre, deal with the sleazy Edinburgh underworld and maybe even fall in love....

Siobhan has problems of her own. A teenager has disappeared from home, and Siobhan is drawn into helping the family, which means travelling too close to the web of a convicted rapist. Then there are two skeletons - a woman and an infant - found buried beneath a concrete cellar floor in Fleshmarket Close. The scene begins to look like an elaborate stunt - but whose and for what purpose? And how can it tie to the murder on the unforgiving housing scheme known as Knoxland?

Excellent

A good insight into the immigration debate. This story is before the creation of the mammoth Police Scotland and so it’s a piece of history as well as a blooming good tale with twists and turns that will have the reader entranced. Great listen on Audible with narration by the multi-accented James Macpherson.

Great Tale.

I really liked the two linked Storylines and as always James Macpherson's narration is terrific.

Love Rebus

This is another classic rebus novel, really enjoyed the 2 independent stories going on at once and how they stories end up coming together.

Enthralling and good narration.

Definitely worth a listen if you like Rebus.

Good but lengthy

This is an exciting murder mistry with many twist and turns. I found my self skipping chapters to catch up with action in the last 6 chapters.

An amazing story, woven into a tale you must hear!

I enjoyed this book tremendously. I couldn't sleep until I reached a break.
Give it enough time to manage all the twists and turns and make some notes as you read as that might help.
Enjoy another Ian Rankin book, but not until you are sure your brain is ready to reset.

Classic Rebus

Really enjoyable listen a good story with plenty of twists. Rankin at his best will definitely get more stories in this format.
