About this listen

Young Fletch is less than pleased to be writing a business story, something that's well outside his field of expertise. Eager to get back out on the streets, he quickly compiles what he thinks is a well-executed article, complete with quotes from the chairman of the board's recent memos. But when he fails to do his due diligence when researching the company and its associates, he finds himself in hot water...and now out of a job. The chairman has been dead for more than a year.

Realizing his mistake, he visits the widow, Bradley, to make amends - and to ask a few simple questions. But her strange demeanor and puzzling answers leave Fletch perplexed. He can't help but wonder: Why would a dead man still be writing memos to his associates? Is he even dead?

With his interest now thoroughly piqued, fueled by his desire to get the real story and take back his job, Fletch puts his reporting skills to work as he dives into the mystery surrounding the Bradleys' past.

Fletch tries to clear his name

Fletch loses his job after writing a story about a chairman, and it turns out said chairman has been dead for more than a year. Trying to clean his journalistic name, Fletch visits the widow and family to make amends, and to understand how a dead chairman keeps writing memos.

I enjoyed this book much better than the previous one. There's a good story to follow, weird characters, even weirder ashes, and Fletch being Fletch.

Love this series

The Fletch series are so enjoyable: good dialogue, puzzling cases, a retro feel (authentic, given when they were written), and a very fitting narration.

Amusing

I like the craziness of this series but this one was rather predictable so not one of the best.

Another good read from the Fletch series

The series of books just keep getting better. Laughed out loud as the plot is so clever and the narration on so many different characters is first class.

Great

An excellent easy listen. Classic Fletch.
I would say, considering this was written well over 30 years ago, it deals with the subject matter quite sympathetically, so nicely rather ahead of the curve.
A great series, can’t wait for the next one!

Not the Best of Fletch

I can appreciate that in the time it was written it was probably shocking discovery of the Bradleys but in this age I could smell the truth a mile off. At least we had the VP's character to entertain for awhile, I didnt really like any other, maybe Moxie a bit with the money and the play but otherwise I am not looking forward to reading a whole book about her.
Overall an okay book. Not the best Fletch

Typical Fletch!

I always enjoy Fletch stories - a bit far fetched but entertaining and not too much violence and gore. The first one I read took a bit of adjusting too but once into Fletch they become quite engrossing.
