About this listen

They called themselves the Bombay Buccaneers - and under that flamboyant name they blazed a trail of daring and adventure from the Gulf of Oman to the waters of Macao. For courage, loyalty, and renown few of the Buccaneers could match their Captain, Percival Merewether, a brilliant seaman who was already the hero of a score of fabled sea-faring campaigns. Newly in command of the 36-gun frigate Pitt, Merewether is about to set sail again - this time on a voyage that would plunge him and his crew into new and ever more hazardous trials: a mutiny, a fierce-fought sea battle with the French, and a stormy encounter with the most ferocious pirate ever to hoist a flag: Madame Chin, scourge of the China Seas.

A cracking sea adventure

A thoroughly enjoyable read and excellently researched.

Fairweather and Hornblower what a team they would have made. No wonder England Ruled the Waves.

Another Cracker!

Steven Crossley is perfectly cast for narrator of #2 of 3 in this series. I enjoy listening to him immensely!

I was a fan of the Patrick O Brien series of books and these are quite similar, I recommend them to anyone with a naval/ boating interest, not just because they are free they are very easy listening in my opinion!

End of an era

All three books in the series tell wonderful stories of more exciting and adventurous times. This last also contains reminiscences and regrets and a bitter sweet ending. I shall miss Merewether.
