About this listen

The wages of sin is death.

The partial collapse of a disused Edinburgh church reveals a dead body in the rubble, his head badly smashed by falling masonry. Soon identified as an old ex-con - Kenny Morgan - his death is put down to a heart attack and deemed non-suspicious.

Tony McLean is approached by a notorious crime lord who suggests the police should be looking into Morgan's death more closely. Despite struggling with his recent retirement, he is reluctant to involve himself.

But when a second man is found dead in another disused church, his forehead branded with a cross, this time it is clearly murder.

There's a killer stalking the streets of Edinburgh. Is it time for McLean to get back to doing what he does best?

Perfectly balanced, thrilling and smooth listening

DI McLain never disappoints you. No need for exaggerated fighting scenes to make the story thrilling. And always this shuttle touch of the supernatural.

Acting Detective Inspector Janey Harris gets the baddie(with a wee bit of help from DI McLean).

I always know I'm reading a good book when I order another latte in the cafe so I can stay longer to delve into the story and this was very true of 'For Our Sins'. I quickly became embroiled in the alterboys story and that of the criminal 'big man' looking for help. It was good to become reacquainted with all the usual characters plus a couple of new arrivals in Tony and Janey's lives. I stayed up too late tonight to finish this latest novel from Mr Oswald, all I can say is thanks for such entertaining books and roll on your next book.
Ian Hanmore's mellifluous reading of characters was as usual excellent.

James Oswald delivers yet again

As someone who remembers Mrs McClutchen, when she was about, I have enjoyed following the life, trials and tribulations of these characters. I find myself caring more about them than the story. Which is always guaranteed to be multilayered and intriguing as Oswald’s writing consistently delivers.

Yet another great story, crime thriller with a touch of the supernatural.
I've just finished a marathon listen of all of the Tony McLean books in order, and can't wait for the next

Excellent

As usual excellently paste, with a very good storyline, just a hint of the supernatural and justice is served

This is my sin

As usual the combination of James Oswald and Ian Hanmore delivers an unexpected book that does not fail to keep you in suspense throughout. I loved it

Brilliant

I have been eagerly awaiting this book for a long time and it was certainly worth waiting for. The story caught my interest very quickly and the excellent narration by Ian Hanmore kept my interest and made it easy to follow the twists and turns of the plot.

As always there was an extra dimension to the plot which can not be easily explained, a hint of the supernatural, but only a hint, The point wasn’t laboured, leaving the reader free to draw his or her own conclusions.

The book dealt with some very difficult subjects, child abuse, human trafficking and exploitation as well as bullying and sexual harassment in the workplace. All were dealt with appropriately yet despite the weighty subject matter the plot flowed easily and the book was engaging and enjoyable.

I have missed Tony McLean and it was great to catch up with him again in For Our Sins. I hope it will not be too long before the next book and please can we have another book in the Constance Fairchild series as well.

Excellent as always.

I adore these books, they are my favourite series. I have become attached to the main characters and love their individual stories. I just hate having to wait for the next book to come out. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Excellent book well delivered

I had my doubts at the beginning but this was a very good listen. God plot if a wee bit predictable but simply put I enjoyed it.
