About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
From USA Today bestselling author Rina Kent comes a new dark romance about a villain and his new obsession.
I caught the attention of a monster.
I didn’t ask for it.
Didn’t even see it coming.
But the moment I do, it’s too late.
Killian Carson is a predator wrapped in sophisticated charm.
He’s cold-blooded, manipulative, and savage.
The worst part is that no one sees his devil side.
I do.
And that will cost me everything.
I run, but the thing about monsters?
They always chase.

A bit grapey for me
I thought I’d try a new genre but CNC wasn’t for me. Not a bad story line though!

Jarring English accent
Great story, if you can get over the annoying English accent that sounds like Horrid Henry then you’ll enjoy!

Really wanted to love it but...
Everyone raves about this series so I had really high hopes. and while the story was relatively good if a bit uneventful I struggled to connect to the FMC, she really didn't have much to her personality wise. the MMC wasn't much better his only personality trait being that he didn't have one.
I liked the messy complicated wider friendship groups and world building (despite the issues mentioned below) there is definitely a solid foundation for this world and I just hope that the series improves from here because I feel like this first couple didn't do the series justice.
Also as a British person I really really struggled that a book set in Britain has absolutely zero idea of British language, ecology or culture, most of which could be solved with a quick Google. I mean fireflies in the UK?!? Every time the narrator said maafia I cringed. I laughed when half the students were in their '4th' year at uni (we only have 3 years in England) and lots.of other really basic mistakes that could have easily been avoided.
finally could romance authors (especially dark romance) please please stop writing unrealistic or anatomically impossible spice?!? why is it even necessary it doesn't make it hotter.

Semantics
Absolutely love this; it’s not your typical fairytale happily ever after. It’s way more than that.

Just too much
Too much inner-monologue, too many characters and previous book characters. It may have been better with a different female narrator but just wanted more of the story rather than endless descriptions of her feelings. Gave up before the end.

Dark, crazy, lustful
I did love this book all in all, I loved the story and the ending, the only thing that put me off a-bit was the main MMC’s voice actor sounds way too old to voice the character.

Why doesn't everyone do their own voice??
the most annoying thing about this is hearing the FMC do the MMC voice in her chapter and vice versa. Regardless who's chapter it is, surely they should speak their own parts? Also, Glyndon sounds like she's twelve and the voice for Killian sounds like a 50 year old with a mortgage. The story is okay, I guess, but considering it's written by a woman I was amazed at how little knowledge she seemed to have about how women's bodies work. if it wasn't for the fact I've heard the later books in the series are much better this would definitelybe a DNF.
