Summary

Most people called it a cult. But for 20 years, Josh and Caleb called it home. In Paradise, there is no television. No fast food. Just long hours of farmwork and prayer on a dusty Wyoming ranch and nights in a crowded bunkhouse. The boys of the Compound are kept far from the sinners' world. But Joshua doesn't need temptation to sin. His whole life he's wanted his best friend, Caleb. By day they work side by side. Only when Josh closes his eyes at night can they be together the way he craves. It can never be. And his survival depends on keeping his terrible desires secret.

Caleb has always protected Josh against the worst of the bullying at the Compound. But he has secrets of his own and a plan to get away - until it all backfires. Josh finds himself homeless in a world that doesn't want him. Can Caleb find him in time? And will they find a place of safety, where he can admit to Josh how he really feels?

Warning: Contains a hot male/male romance, copious instances of taking the Lord's name in vain, and love against the kitchen counter. This book was previously released under the title In Front of God and Everyone.

Such a sweet story

This was such a sweet story with lots of love and laughs but it also covered some serious issues. I loved the characters and will definitely listen to it again at some point.

Tender, compelling and utterly beautiful...

Gosh. I held my breath as the story approached its conclusion, as I had done at various other points during its unfolding.
I loved every second of this novel. I could barely put it down. It is so beautifully written, complemented exquisitely by the two narrators.
The sex scenes were tender, loving, beautiful, naughty and visceral - so authentic, I found myself blissfully in the flow of them. That takes literary skill with mirroring narration to achieve.

Bravo to author, Sarina Bowen, for writing this glorious book and to its narrators, Teddy Hamilton and Dake Bliss... you three make an estimable union most definitely.

Slow but good

It’s a slow, sweet story, but still holds your attention. TH is a better narrator but DB still good.
Enjoyed the book, straight onto book 2.

highly recommended

I love this story and both main characters. The dual pov really adds to this touching and sweet tale of 2 men overcoming their upbringing and finding acceptance both from themselves and from their new found family.
Loved Josh standing up for himself during the crisis.
The narration is very well done and suits the characters which is great to hear.

A good story

Story: I liked the characters and the premise of the story. It felt a bit glossed over when it came to the adjusting to the society bit, but it was still a good piece of storytelling.
Narration: Very uneven quality between the narrators and it did put me off the story a bit.

Great Read

This was a free book to listen to and thought that I would give it a go. I really enjoyed the story it was just a shame that the story came to an abrupt ending. One minute the guys are arguing in the car park after one of them gets drunk and all of a sudden, they are getting married. For this reason, only I'm giving it a 4 star. Well worth listening to.

A story that had to be told

Great story! Sometimes predictable, but always engaging. The only problem in my opinion is that it is maybe a bit to abridged. We deal with very hard topics, but the emotional repercussions are only explored at a very superficial and simplistic level.
