Summary

Abigail Sorensen has spent her life trying to unwrap the events of 1990. It was the year she started receiving random chapters from a self-help book called The Guidebook in the post. It was also the year Robert, her brother, disappeared on the eve of her 16th birthday. She believes the absurdity of The Guidebook and the mystery of her brother's disappearance must be connected. Now 35, owner of The Happiness Café and mother of four-year-old Oscar, Abigail has been invited to learn the truth behind The Guidebook at an all-expenses-paid retreat. What she finds will be unexpected, life-affirming, and heartbreaking.

Fantastic

This book made me cry.
it's fun,sad exhilarating and calming.
I love anything Australian,it describes places, streets and people that I know, during the past 20 years in visiting ,and that's not even what its about!

Mixed Feelings

This book is so beautiful written. There's some gorgeous, gorgeous ideas. I even wrote some of the paragraphs down so I would remember them - the part about Silence. But if it was a film it would be heavily edited. It's like listening to a friend that is telling an interesting story but is embellishing it too much for affect, and you kind off drift and come back cause you know the core is fabulous.

Fabulous narrator!

I believe that the success of this book is hugely due to the fantastic narration and of course the style of writing! Packed full of humour, the story line was fine, nothing earth shattering but the narrator and the humour kept me captivated until the very end!
