Summary
It's late on Friday night when Casey's mobile starts to ring. She is expecting it to be her daughter, Riley. But it isn't Riley. It's a woman from the Emergency Duty Team. So begins Casey and Mike's latest fostering challenge - a 15-year-old girl called Keeley who's run away from her long-term foster home 25 miles away.
The Jonathan Ross Show has just started when Casey gets the call. She thinks it will be Riley - telling her that her favourite actor is going to be on TV. But it's something far more urgent: a 15-year-old girl who has run away from her foster family and accused her foster father of sexual abuse. The family deny it vehemently, but such an allegation can never be taken lightly, so a new home must be found for Keeley.
Keeley is polite, but she's sharp, and she has all the hallmarks of a child who has been in the system a long time and knows how to play it. Whether the allegation is true or not, Casey knows there will be no winners here. If it is true, then a young girl's life has been torn asunder. If not, then the heartache for the family will be surpassed only by the bleak outlook for Keeley.
In the short term, it's a case of providing a safe, supportive home for a vulnerable child. But with the dangerous world of the internet at her disposal, it seems this strong-minded youngster has her own ideas of where that safe place should be....

Dreadful!!! Don't bother
I used to love Casey Watson books but in recent years they have become so boring. We hear far more about her kids than the ones she looks after... I dread it if it's Christmas in one of her books because we hear about a whole chapter on decorations!!!! All conversations with people are left with unanswered questions so you have to read 8 chapters to get them answered. It's like a bad thriller where the you think well why didn't you just ask!!
Oh and please don't get me started on the narrator. She has the most annoying voice ever. She makes Casey sound like a thick Cockney while everyone Casey appears to talk to is from up north... Please her voice grates me so much.
So get a new narrator.. Stop going on more about your own kids and grandchildren & Tyler who is portrayed as the nicest teensger going. Lastly if you have run out of genuine storylines just stop writing, don't keep making your loyal readers purchase new books just with the HOPE they would be any good!!
Sorry my first ever review on Casey Watson but I've really had enough...

Love Casey’s books
I’m a big fan of Casey’s I usually read her books but decided to try it on audiobook this time, I’m only only chapter 5 and I’m really not sure if I can finish it! The narration is like it is being read for a children’s book, putting on voices and accents and emotion behind certain phrases, this is the first audio book Iv come across that does this, this is a serious book I don’t think it should be read like it’s for 6 year old children -sorry!

Good written account spoilt by narration
I find the Casey Watson books to be a good read. As on holiday I thought I would listen to one instead. I found it very hard to keep focussed on the story at times due to the narrators use of lots of exaggerated accents for the different characters.

Groomed
The story Groomed by Casey Watson is a brilliant book to read but as audible it is terrible as narrated by Kate Lock. The accent and tone is awful and totally put me off. I gave up and couldn’t listen any more. Unfortunately a lot of Casey’s books are narrated by Kate Lock therefor I will not get anymore audible. Casey, get a new narrator please! I recommend you try a sample before buying. It is not just me saying this. Great pity.

Almost put off by bad reviews. Glad I wasn't
Everyone complains about the narrators voice, but I personally didn't see the issue. No regrets on buying or listening to it.

Loved the book, hated the voices!
I loved the book, enthralling and heartbreaking as always. I really found the voice Kate used to portray Tyler (and all male people within the book) to be absolutely grating and I couldn’t wait to make it past that dialogue every time. Other than the male dialogue, everything else was great!

Brilliant!
This is an amazing read! A great book about a very important subject! I highly recommend it! I wasn't a fan of the reader, but I did like the overall story! It did take me a while to read it though due to me not liking the way the reader read the book.

Good book, horrible audio
It has been an absolute sacrifice to hear the audio description, but I had no choice as I wanted to know the story. I work 9 hours a day, drive other 4 hours and I have a baby, so I don't have time to read. Therefore I count on audible to read for me. Kate Lock speak too slowly, it becomes annoying and hard to follow. She stops several times in between words in the same sentence. This does not happen only sometimes, it is in every sentence. She does not project her voice either. She speaks suddenly so low I can barely hear with maximum volume. The narration is of really bad quality. Nothing like this happens with the other audio descriptions of the same type of books.
It is far from the high level of quality the narrations by Denica Fairman, Penny MacDonald or Madeleine Gould.
The narration ruined the book.
