About this listen
All's Fair in Love and (Pastry) War
Sylvie Campos and Lauren Machado have hated each other since before they were born. For generations, the Campos and Machado families have blamed each other for stealing pastry recipes they claim their great-grandfathers originated before fleeing Castro's Cuba.
Having spent their lives as rivals, Lauren and Sylvie are now in their early thirties and primed to take over their respective family bakeries. That means working long, hot, seasons of outdoor food festivals where they are forced to endure each other—albeit with a lot of bantering and barb-trading. After all, no one knows how to get under Sylvie's skin like Lauren.
Sick of dealing with Lauren and her thieving family, Sylvie sets out to unmask the Machados for the traitors they are.
But when the truth is not what Sylvie expects, will the fiery exchanges between her and Lauren turn into something hot enough to melt away generational baggage? Could they get the chance to rekindle what they almost had in high school?
Find out in this laugh-out-loud hilarious, enemies-to-lovers, romantic comedy featuring plenty of steam, tension, and delicious Cuban food.

A must for fans
Carrie Coello really brings this story and the characters to life I hope that more of J.J.A' books are brought to audio.

Overflowing with sexual chemistry
Guava Flavored Lies is a heartwarming book with all the feels. No third act break up or miscommunication to muddy the waters of this love story.

A free Audio...
A free audiobook so all good. I'm pleased I didn't waste a credit on this long winded , going nowhere story !
Well going nowhere might be a little harsh but it felt like that at times. The two MC's were cute so that helps, the narrator did a decent job. I'm happy to tell the listener to 'give it a go' because it's free !

Enjoyed this
Great story and characters along with some firey latin empraments made this a really good, and often funny, listen. A lovely taste of Cuban expat culture, something completely new to me, made it an especially interesting story. I definitely want to find more books from this author who is new to me.
Unfortunately I did not think the narrator was great because she did not make much attempt to differentiate between Sylvie and Lauren's voices and this made it confusing to know which one was speaking at times.

Lovely developing story
Although not laugh out loud comedy, it was light and fun and the characters were likeable and engaging. I really enjoyed the changing phases of the story and the ultimate conclusion.
