About this listen
Face of an angel. Mind in the gutter.
Mike. Macho Biker. Scarred. Will never love again.
Arden. Femme boy. Jaded. Will never succumb to lust again.
Mike is always on the lookout for a fresh fling, and there are more than enough chicks for a stud like him at the Smoke Valley MC clubhouse. But the pretty little thing he spots at the gas station turns out to be a boy, and that triggers all sorts of confusion.
Mike loves a challenge, so when he’s given the cold shoulder, his predator senses are set aflame! Straight or not, Mike makes a bet with his cousin and won’t settle for anything other than a total seduction of Arden.
Arden has bigger fish to fry than some biker’s petty insecurities. His last relationship has left him jaded and hurt, so he will never again succumb to the charms of a bad boy. Especially since Mike isn’t just hot, he’s freaking irresistible. Older, dangerous, and cocky, Mike will be Arden’s downfall if he isn’t careful.
But when a monster from Arden’s past reaches out his claws, the only deterrent Arden can think of is claiming Mike is his new boyfriend. So now, he’s stuck in a fake relationship with a straight guy.
For Mike, what starts as a game turns out to be an awakening he’d never expected. The ice prince in lace is actually hot as hellfire, with a gutter mind to match Mike’s, and all of a sudden, his scarred heart is not as safe as he’d thought it was.
A scorching-hot, stand-alone M/M romantic suspense novel.
Warning: This story contains scenes of violence, mentions of past abuse, offensive language, and morally ambiguous characters.

Steamy, sexy, and a whole lot of mayhem
Mike and Arden's sexy, steamy love story had everything I've come to love about K. A. Merikan's books. Even without reading a single other book in this series, Mike and Arden won me over fast and had me invested in their journey right from the start. Wyatt Baker's narration only added to my enjoyment of the story--the way he brought these men to life is incredible.
Despite his outward appearance, Mike was hiding a pretty heartbreaking past relationship, and once I found out exactly what happened to him, his meaningless flings and resistance to love took on a whole new meaning. Arden's troubles with love were a lot more dangerous and sparked a lot more immediate conflict in this story, but he too had plenty of reasons to avoid another serious relationship. If anything, both men's reluctance to pursue anything serious made me even more desperate to see them cave in to temptation. The tiny glimpses of Mike's protectiveness over Arden had my heart racing, and Arden's inner struggle to resist his desires was intoxicating. By the time they finally started hooking up, I was absolutely desperate to see them together for real, and their off-the-charts chemistry just made me ache even more. I've always been a huge fan of possessive lovers, so seeing Mike's attitude shift from playing the field to claiming Arden for himself pushed all the right buttons for me. Arden wasn't as vocal about it, but his desire to become irresistible to Mike, to be the only one to satisfy him in bed, was no less possessive. As if the hot-as-heck attraction wasn't enough, this story had a highly satisfying plotline separate from the romance that only added to my overall enjoyment of this book. Whether it was seeking revenge on Luke, fiercely claiming one another, or hashing things out with the Jadens, there's no doubt that Mike and Arden gave me all the steam and mayhem I was hoping for.

Wish I could give it more stars
I loved the aspect of thinking he was hitting on a female but instead being a more feminine male. I haven’t come across this much. The narration was really good and added a nice depth to the story with the voices and emotions. I’m not usually a big f@n of slow burn but this was really well done. Needs more stars than 5

Can be read as a stand alone
I was lucky enough to get this as a review copy, not having read any of the series before, I did wonder if I would follow the story and the lives of the characters.
The main character Mike is a biker, with the support of his whole family. However, he lost his girlfriend years ago and has since just slept around with every female he came across, until he meets Arden, a feminine dress loving boy from the city asking for protection.
The story is well written and although I've never read any of the series this book was easy to keep up with and I didn't feel that anything was missing from the story.
Will now go back and read the others from the beginning.
Well narrated.

Yet another gem in the series
Story: This was one heck of a book! I loved Mike and Arden's story! Each addition to this series is a pure pleasure, but I must say this one has to be in the top 3! All the feels and overall plot were just what the doctor has ordered! K.A. Merikan are masters in creating captivating characters and Gutter Mind is yet another proof of that!
Narration: A very good voice and performance! Great fit for the characters!

Great characters
I love a great KA Merikan story! The characters are engaging and dynamic, the sort was fantastic already but the narrator does an excellent job of adding another level of awesome.

My favorite in the series
I may say this repeatedly, but this is my new favorite in this series. Merikan took a character, Mike, that I was initially prepared to dislike intensely because of his going after Arden at first just to win a bet, even after he discovered Arden was not a woman. He seemed like just some sleazy guy out to prove a point no matter if it hurt Arden or not. But, as they always do, Merikan took that character, gave him real depth and redeemed him as he opened his life and heart to Arden. This is an amazing take on the fake boyfriend and protector tropes and an entry not to be missed in the series. Wyatt Baker got the characters just right. He made Mike unlikeable at first but then perfectly eased us into the real man beneath the facade. Superb story and superb performance.

A great addition to the MC series
I love the Sex and Mayhem series and Gutter Mind is another good story with entertaining characters and an interesting relationship plot.
I love how open Mike was to the experience of being attracted to Arden, even though he didn't realise he was a man at first with what he was wearing and how is hair and make up was done. He has something from his past that holds him back from a fully going forward with a relationship but the physical attraction and emotions that sizzle and develop between them really forge a connection between them. Arden is staying at the Smoke Valley's compound in order to be protected from an ex that he had bad trouble with and he never would have expected someone like Mike to come into his world. The is snark, attitude, attraction, jealousy, anger and love that makes up a great story with a man who has only ever considered himself straight and one who is desperate for someone to love an protect him but has a bad history that makes him wary. There are a couple of plot points that creep up during the relationship, one on either side that include an ex and each brings an amount of danger, mostly to Arden but Mike is more than happy to go to the young man's defence.
Wyatt is a good narrator for this story. I really liked his voice for Mike and the other characters. Emotions are portrayed very well, especially anger and attraction but there wasn't much to differentiate between all of the characters. Overall a good performance that brings the story to life.

Lives up to the name! Great narration!
K.A. Merikan is one of the most fascinating team of writers I’ve come across. There’s a uniqueness to their writing that you can’t turn away from. It sucks you in, and leaves you laughing, scratching your head, and begging for more. This book was not a disappointment...at all. In fact, every book of theirs is classic, in my opinion. //
Mike and Arden were two very different, but equally likable guys. I loved their interactions and chemistry. The fact that Mike is a biker, and has a sexual awakening, makes this book even better! I love the outer contradictions these men had, yet they matched up perfectly, from the inside out. //
This was a very well thought out, and put together, story. I loved every minute of it. //
Wyatt Baker is quickly becoming one of my favorite narrators. He did a fantastic job bringing these unique characters to life, giving them both a perfect voice. You could easily tell who was talking, including the side characters.

Fantastic
K.A. Merikan is a magician in giving you just the right amount of twisted without it being dark. Some great, interesting characters that kept me glued to the story. Wyatt Baker is the perfect narrator for a K.A. Merikan story. Hope there is many more in the future.

that was intense!
Another steamy, intense pairing. So much lust and emotion mixed up in new discoveries and explorations (that are so hot!).
I just loved Arden, such a sweet femme boy with a big heart (and very dirty mind) and Mike, s*x on a stick biker discovering something new. These two make an unlikely pair and I really liked the more emotional connection that slowly developed as they played, protected and got to know each other. The care side of Mike seemed to be always there and I liked how he treated Arden and you could see more than lust was driving him. I found this one more intensely emotional than the usual hot fierce passion I've come to expect from KA Merikan but still a delectable read!!!
