About this listen
The New York Times best-selling origin story of the Master Chief - part of the expanded universe based on the award-winning video game series Halo!
The 26th century. Humanity has expanded beyond Earth’s system to hundreds of planets that colonists now call home. But the United Earth Government and the United Nations Space Command is struggling to control this vast empire. After exhausting all strategies to keep seething colonial insurrections from exploding into a full-blown interplanetary civil war, the UNSC has one last hope. At the Office of Naval Intelligence, Dr. Catherine Halsey has been hard at work on a top-secret program that could bring an end to the conflict...and it starts with 75 children, among them a six-year-old boy named John. And Halsey could never guess that this child will eventually become the final hope against an even greater peril engulfing the galaxy - the inexorable confrontation with a theocratic military alliance of alien races known as the Covenant.
This is the electrifying origin story of Spartan John-117 - the Master Chief - and of his legendary, unstoppable heroism in leading the resistance against humanity’s possible extinction.

Inconsistencies with the game
If you can get the inconsistencies out of your head it’s really brilliant halo book

Gripping and informative
I’ve played and loved all of the Halo games over the years. This book was a great addition to the story and really well narrated. Would definitely recommend to anyone interested in the backstory to Halo or Sci-Fi fans in general.

loved it
loved the story, filled in some of the blanks from the games. I've been listening to this the last few days at work so it's made my shifts fly by. Looking forward to listening to the rest of the books.
The only annoyance I had was the narrater pronounced a few words wrong. The first few times annoyed me but after a little while I began to notice it less.

Loved it
Simply put it. I loved it, I’m not that much of an book fan. Haven’t really read that many books in my lifetime. I’ve always liked the games tho. So wanted to at least try to listen to one of the books. It was an new experience for me and was quite shocking how much I liked it. The book captures my imagination of the games quite well. The only gripe I have with it, is that it’s released before Halo Reach was. So a few story elements don’t ad up in my head. The book is not to blame tho, I loved it. Just a little weird that some got red conned or “added” rather. But I have high hopes for the other books. Where they probably gonna go over the Reach story more. Overall I would give the story a 4.6/5
Loved the narrator tho. Don’t know why, but he captured my imagination quite well. He also had an soothing presence, so I could easily sleep when I wanted. But as someone else also pointed out. The narrator refers to chief as one seventeen instead of one one seven. So I had to knock of a little points. But overall an 4.8/5 performance by McLaren

Superior compared to the TV Show
I got the book to see what's the difference between the show and the the games story. And I have to say the 2 is barelly similar and the book is the superior medium.
