Summary

Fusing the very best of self-help, science and spirituality, Happy Not Perfect teaches us how to shift our emotional well-being into a happier, balanced and less anxious state.

Even before the pandemic brought on a crushing wave of stress, anxiety, isolation and financial struggle, there was a growing mental health crisis - exacerbated by a digital-first culture that is putting untold pressure on a generation of young people.

Poppy Jamie has made it her life's mission to do something about this and share the actionable, science-backed solutions we can all use to rewire our daily thoughts and break damaging patterns for good - those same ones that she used to piece herself back together after suffering from chronic anxiety and burnout.

Happy Not Perfect, the book, sets out her 'Four-Step Flex Framework' that will enable listeners to bend and stretch their negative thought pathways into better shape, unravel their emotional blockages, raise their energy levels, move through challenges with confidence and create a life aligned with their deepest values and aspirations.

Blending cutting-edge science from the world's leading experts, straight-talking spirituality and the very soul of Poppy's own experiences. She is an author who's been there and wants to equip us with the tools, knowledge and methods we can use to navigate our hardest days, become adaptable, rewrite old habits and fears and snap us out of autopilot, to start building a brighter future.

Poppy says The Flex is about committing to compassionate action to change our realities. Life will never be perfect, and our happiness lies in the beautiful acceptance of that. This book is about digging deeper into our psyche to heal the root of our thinking and as we all carry emotional wounds, micro or macro, taking the time to understand the root of the stories we tell ourselves, is essential in rewriting new scripts moving forward.

Listened twice already!

Had heard a few episodes of the HNP podcast and liked Poppy’s cheerful manner. The book is fantastic. Some useful advice that is easy to implement supplemented with great anecdotes (I imagine Bridget Jones when listening to Poppy tell her stories!) Listened twice already and will listen again to see what more I can take it from it.

No Ordinary Self Help Book!

Poppy Jamie is a leading force in the anxiety world.

I'm always reluctant to buy a book from someone who has an excellent podcast series as most if the book is in the podcasts and podcasts are always deeper.

But Poppy keeps it so fresh, there's so much in this brilliant book, i love how she inserts entries from her childhood diary, it's so relevant.

I listened to this on audio and she narrates it encouraging me further to buy this as she has an amazing voice.

This isn't any ordinary self help book, most self help books are as good as the bin, this is so unique.

I'd love to hear her do some work on OCD!

Brilliant book and podcast whereby you can have both with no repetitiveness!

Another underwhelming self help book

Didn’t say anything groundbreaking or offer any new perspectives on mental health. Talked the whole way through about ‘flexing’ which I still didn’t even really understand by the end. Found the narrator and the writing in general quite annoying tbh.
