Summary

Absolutely fantastic series!
This series just gets better! One of my favourite police procedural series. The main characters of the police team are fleshed out and become more like old friends. A gripping story with lots of surprises. The way that the issue of domestic abuse is dealt with is superb. So sensitive and so realistic. I cannot recommend this series and this book enough! Thank you Charlie!

Really enjoyed this one
Must admit the DV in this turned my stomach and made me so angry, but the development of the characters and their growing relationship is a great read.

Riveting Read
I really like this detective series following Sergeant Maddie Ives. This time she is specialising with victims of abuse and she deals with Grace Hughes who is being controlled and abused by her partner Craig. As usual the controller isolates the victim to the point it is just the two of them. He is free to come and go, she is not and he makes sure of it by trapping her into a device attached to the sofa.
Little does he know Grace has spoken to and met Maddie and she asks her to diary and possibly detail the violence Grace details every blow etc and it’s horrific. All the while she is hiding her book. Maddie has even given her phrases to use to diffuse the situation.
In the meantime there is a bomber to deal with, a young lad doing petty theft and when he is caught he is frightened. Why because someone else he fears is nearby. Throw in a pompous business man who is hoping to be going on to bigger and better things but is hiding a secret. There is a link and Maddie & Di Harry Blacker are back together trying to crack the case/cases will they stop the bomber?
Will Grace ever be free and Maddie has secrets of her own. Thrilling.
I read and listened to this book and the narrator Antonia Beamish is wonderful at acting out each part. My only niggle is the word She which often comes out sounding like he but otherwise excellent.

Absolutely love this series
I really enjoyed the suspense in this thriller and the characters are very believable.
Can’t wait to start book 3 in the series now in see what Maddie Ives gets up to next 😃
