Summary

A powerful and emotional listen. The Anglesey Murders series is the audiobook thriller of 2021.

DI Alan Williams is called to the recovery of two bodies from the sea at Trearddur Bay, during a storm. The lifeboat crew suspect they're fishermen, washed away by a wave, but they’re wrong. Alan and his detective sergeant, Kim Davies, realise the men were beaten and tied together before they entered the water. Two miles along the headland at Porth Dafarch, a third victim is found but there are no obvious links. As the number of victims increases, a major investigation team battles to unravel a deadly puzzle that appears to have links to a series of historic murders from the '90s. Is there a copycat on the loose, or are the murders connected to the local underworld, which controls the supply of narcotics across North Wales and the North West?

Interesting and immersive

A well detailed story with good local knowledge of all locations added to a reasonable plot. Spoke interesting characters. Look forward to the next episode.

dreadfully written

whilst the story is good, the written word is dreadful - makes me want to ban the words he/said from the English language, it detracted from the quality of narration and the listening slots.
I persevered a) because it was a free listen and b) it was a reasonable story

Interesting lead character

Good story, but too much of "he said, she said" in the narrative which doesn't read well in audible

Dreadful narration

Story was Ok. Narration was awful. I could forgive South Wales accent instead of North but all characters sounded the same.

Had me on the edge of my seat

Book was amazing and the chapter of the attack had me shouting for the character to run. Loved it

The Anglesey Murders

Well read and a good plot. I found this reading held my attention and I enjoyed relaxing and listening. It was related in a good and clear way

Good story, rather spoiled by the narrator

The narrator was not very good at the Welsh words, Dafydd is pronounced Davith, not David. Also he was not good at changing voices, so it was quite hard to work out who was who.
And sadly the writing of conversation was not very skillful, an awful lot of "he said" ......"she said......."he said ".......A bit clumsy.
